Cutting edge general contracting

I would strongly recommend against hiring Cutting Edge for any sort of serious project. We ended up having to end our contract mid build and tear up over $75k worth of foundation and subfloor work that they did on an ADU. There were many red flags along the way that for wishful thinking we chose to ignore...until it was obvious that the windows and doors were not going to fit. Getting a city inspector out in person (during COVID) revealed numerous code violations and deviations from plans. From rebar that didn't hold up during a concrete pour to water leaks and plumbing problems to insufficient anchor bolts and hold downs - this was a nightmare. While Cutting Edge offered to correct the defects, we had zero confidence in their ability to do so. Jermaine is a very smart guy with good intentions, but he has a subpar crew that could not handle the project. While there were problems with our plans, instead of flagging them, Cutting Edge just winged it to the detriment of the project. We feel like we dodged a bullet by stopping work with them when we did, despite the financial loss.
