After undergoing a seven month renovation project with AJMB we are thrilled with the results. Many years ago we had been through a miserable major renovation project. This was the complete opposite experience. Pat, Tommy and Matt were a pleasure to work with. When problems arose (they always do) they problem solved it in a thoughtful and aesthetically pleasing way. They were honest and professional. All their sub-contractors were excellent craftsmen, extremely polite and cleaned up at the end of every day. They used top of the line materials. No short cuts. As a home owner for 35 years I highly recommend AJMB for any project large or small. Their professionalism and craftmanship are unmatched. Plus they are really nice guys. They might be a bit expensive but you get what you paid for!

After completing a full-gut kitchen renovation for us several years ago, we knew to look no further than AJMB when planning a large-scale home addition. Our first experience with AJMB was approximately 20 years ago, when they transformed our Cape Cod into a more traditional 2 story home. The result was better than we could have imagined. We were so impressed with the quality of construction, attention to detail, professionalism, and overall experience, that when we wanted to add a first floor addition, we did not hesitate to contact AJMB again. Their management team and architect took our design ideas, improved on them and created plans that were uniquely tailored to our lives. They were easy to work with, cost conscious, extremely responsive, and overall, just really nice people. On site, we were thrilled that, once again, got to work with Tom, who had taken the lead on the construction at our house 20 years ago. He is a true craftsman and inspires confidence at every turn. When unexpected, unpredictable issues turned up when the walls came down, he promptly resolved them. We could always trust him to do things right and make things right. We relied heavily on his experience, input and guidance - and he did not disappoint. He came up with innovative and creative ideas to improve our home - and made ideas we thought were impossible, possible. We are beyond impressed with Anthony James Master Builders! My husband and I decided to go through with our Master Suite Addition/home renovation after putting it off during the beginning of the Covid pandemic. To say that we are happy with AJMB is an understatement. Matt and Pat were an absolute pleasure to work with. They are focused, punctual, accommodating, and extremely professional. Their attention to detail with every task they do is remarkable. Any hiccups that came along the way, which were minimal, were rectified immediately. We had the entire roof off of our house in the middle of the winter, while living in the house, and they still made it as comfortable as possible to live through. Our children even had to do virtual learning during the midst of the construction, and did it successfully – thanks to the high standards of AJMB workers. Even workers for specialty items installed were held to the same high standards, and provided our home with the utmost respect while working in it. A GREAT experience!! I chose Anthony James Construction to work with me on the renovation of my former childhood home, and as an Interior Designer I had a clear vision of what I wanted to create and achieve. We hired Anthony James to put an addition on our 100 year old house. We added a family room, mud room, and two bathrooms. They also updated the kitchen. We had a very good experience with few issues. If we did face an issue it was quickly addressed and resolved. We found all dealings with them very professional. The project was completed within a reasonable time period. One of the reasons we chose them was their previous experience working with older homes and the issues you might face. They did a wonderful job matching the existing details of the home. We are very pleased with the outcome.

We hired Anthony James Construction to design and build a master Bedroom suite and renovate the majority of our house. This was a project which involved almost 3/4 of our house both interior and exterior. We lived through the construction which Anthony & his team respected during the 6 months of construction. The house came out beautiful and the workmanship is top notch. Anthony and his team pay attention to all of the details and make sure that they have the best qualified resource working on each aspect from the framing to the stone / tile work, to hardwood floors, trim work, electrical and all the aspects. This results in having an amazing outcome where we still cannot believe this is our house. We have just finished a renovation on our 1860's farmhouse with Anthony and his team! We are so happy with how everything turned out. Having read his reviews and seen his work we knew we wanted to work with him and we were delighted he did. Our house is old and quirky and that is what we love about it. Many others wanted to "fix" our house but Anthony understood that we love the charm of our house but needed to make it functional. We renovated the kitchen, Master bedroom and Bath and the family bathroom. We were impressed with their attention to detail and many quality of work. Communication was great and visibility of where we were in the overall project made the whole process a lot less stressful. There is no one else I would ever want to work with, Anthony James completed a two storey addition including extending and incorporating an existing Radiator Heat system. There were some really challenging hurdles and completed everything on time, on budget and with the highest quality materials. An Artisan such as Anthony James should be everyone's choice when considering these types of projects. Anthony James exceeded our expectations in every area.

As I think about all of the projects I have done with Anthony over the years, I would say respect is an overarching theme. We opened, drilled and repositioned everything — without getting dust all over our living spaces upstairs. They asked all the right questions of me, and when I was too busy to be involved I knew I could pass the detail decisions off to them. It worked like a charm. From that experience, we hired him to do a bathroom remodel. It was flawless and spotless once again. One of the main reasons I bought my current home is because the prior owner used Anthony James to do a complete gut renovation, and the work was overseen by his amazing foreman Tommy Kraus and exacting carpenter, Carlos Vallejo. I knew immediately the renovations were done with excruciating attention to detail and I would be free from inherited problems. I was right! Before moving into our current house, we wanted to do some additional renovations/additions. It was an easy decision to recruit Anthony and team once again. I knew they could bring creative solutions to some tricky situations and all the right people to the project. They worked to an ongoing schedule and when I needed to move into my home sooner than expected, they made sure I was bringing my family into a safe home with remodeling nearly complete. I was really stunned by how much they cared and respected our needs. They did not want us moving into a hotel for a month, a week or even a few days. It is such a pleasure to write about my favorite builder, Anthony James. Amazing!! Anthony James and his crew are certainly the very best in the business. Anthony’s manner put me at ease as he came prepared with a plan to implement my architect’s design. His personal visits and phone calls throughout the project demonstrate his commitment to his work. All of his employees are very professional and hardworking. His foreman, Tom Krauss, checked in daily, answered all of our questions in a timely fashion and was most reassuring. He gave careful attention to every detail! He was cheerful, personable and patient. The office staff was efficient, cordial and readily accessible. Communication was excellent!! His crew did an exceptional two-story addition to our home. He created a hallway from an existing bedroom to give access to the new master bedroom upstairs complete with several closets. On the lower level, he created a master bedroom, new bathroom and walk-in closet. The site was cleaned up daily with consideration for our neighbors. We were under a very tight time frame and despite the never-ending winter, Anthony’s team finished ahead of his projected schedule to accommodate our needs. Anthony James Construction is a First Class renovation/construction firm that also offers design services. They have completely reconstructed three homes for my family in the past 15 years. The quality and attention to detail is amazing! There is no "magic bullet", however. Anthony Cerami works tirelessly to improve his successful formula every waking day. He has long-standing relationships with each trade, so they not only show up for his jobs...they do their best work for his jobs. He knows most of the local townships and suppliers, so speed is never compromised. Further, Anthony and his team know how to make your house a home. Although the services of an architect are paramount to home design/construction/renovation, the finishing touches...the decisions that make ones home comfortable vs geometric, perfect vs efficient, the ones that make you love your home instead of curse the pantry door that swings the wrong way every time you reach for cereal in the morning...happen on site, with the contractor at the 11th hour. That is why AJC has always offered design services within his firm. But I have digressed. You want Anthony James Construction on your job because they know their business, they work to timelines, they will own your project years into the future (the welcome phone call during a hurricane) and the project cost process is fair, timely and transparent. Top that off with the driving force of the company is the desire to make your house your home. What more can you ask for?

We hired Anthony to build our new house from the ground up. We are very happy with the result, and we recommend him 100%. Even before we hired him, Anthony and his entire team helped us navigate the design and demolition process. Throughout the project, everyone was professional, very responsive, honest, and understanding. All of the subcontractors he hired seemed to be the best in their area. I think the thing that impressed us the most is the team's attention to detail and focus on quality. It's hard to stress this enough, and now that we are living in the house we can really tell. Anthony cares a lot about design, and he often gave us suggestions and mock-ups of ideas that would make our house feel really special. Everything was so well planned and coordinated that we ended up in the house ahead of schedule.

How many people can say they actually miss their contractors post-Reno?! We can! Anthony James and his crew are the best in the business! From a "designer" signature pink porta-potty on the front lawn to a first-class construction sign decked out with lights for the holidays, Anthony James's attention to every detail is extraordinary. We bumped out our kitchen, converted a powder room to a deluxe pantry, transformed an au pair suite into a gorgeous mudroom and ripped out an old chimney to open up the front of the home. Our project was complete on time and on budget, exceeding all of our expectations. And one misconception to clear up: Yes, Anthony James is highly sought after with a well-deserved spotless reputation, but he doesn't only take on large scale projects and he was NOT the most expensive of the 5 contractors we interviewed. Anthony and team did a 1st level addition to our old house. It consisted of expanding the kitchen, adding on a dining room, family room, and a porch. From the beginning, we wanted our the addition to look like it belong there and extended/preserved the character of the house. It was very easy to work with the entire development team. They gave suggestions, we gave our own, they modified it. They were excellent at following up and patient in answering our questions. We modified the plans a little along the way (electric, plumbing) and added on a porch. Aside for these extras, we payed what was on the original quote. We lived through the construction and they kept the place clean.

My husband and I had Anthony James Construction convert our attic into a big bedroom / living area with bathroom. AJC handled everything from getting the architect to design a floorplan and new roofline, down to finish carpenters, tile installers, etc. (Except we used our own preferred HVAC company and painter.) This was the biggest and best construction experience we have ever had. Several things made this an outstanding experience. First, the project stayed amazingly on the schedule they laid out months in advance. Second, no surprises needing cost increases over the original price. Any extra costs were entirely due to our choice to add things not in the original agreement. And finally, the construction quality and attention to detail is uniformly excellent. We are pretty particular about how we want things, and AJC cheerfully ensured that we were entirely happy. For example, the stairs, stairway rails and banister needed to match the rest of the house and they did an excellent job of ensuring this. Another example was fine finish work inside closets, even in places that are not easily visible. And yet another was the wainscotting wood finish on one wall and a glass-tiled chimney enclosure with a window seat (hiding A/C tubes). In general, they did an excellent job of matching the 1926 architecture, so the new space fits seamlessly with the old. All trades were very professional and highly skilled in their areas of expertise. They showed up on time and cleaned up well after themselves. One reason this all went so well is that there was an excellent on-site manager, Tom, who constantly supervised and ensured that everything was going to plan (and meeting our high standards!). Tom and / or Anthony James inspected everything at the end of every construction day. They returned calls promptly and answered any questions or concerns. They took our concerns seriously and the project turned out exactly as we envisioned it. We are entirely happy with this experience and will recommend Anthony James Construction to everyone from now on. Everyone who who has seen the project loves it.

When I hired Anthony James to do the construction on my new home that it was probably one of the best decisions I ever made. Upon meeting him, I immediately knew I had the right man for the job. I told him what I wanted to accomplish. He quickly assessed the situation and took it from there. As a testament to his expertise is the astuteness in having the best support team he could possibly have to work with him on my project. Tommy, the foreman, took charge and really kept things moving at the right pace, along with Lou, the builder, and Carlos, the carpenter who truly know their craft. Jimmy and John, the electricians from V & M Electric, were also top notch and irreplaceable as was Zosimo, from Empire Painting. And of course I must mention Marie, Anthony's office assistant who is as kind as they come, and who tolerated all my calls very professionally. This wonderful team created a spectacular addition to my daughter's house, as well as an incomparable creation of a kitchen/living room, bedroom and screened-in-porch for me. This is usually an overwhelming ordeal which is burdensome from beginning to end, but not with this team. Highly recommended.

We reached out to Anthony James for our bathroom remodel after being wowed by their portfolio on Houzz. We knew it was a small project for them, but they never treated it as such. Anthony, Joe, and Carlos were all really patient and amazing, often indulging our must-haves and/or offering up practical suggestions/ solutions, to help us fit our vision of a stately bathroom into a less-than-stately footprint (6 ft tub, what?!?!?). As rookie homeowners, this was our first experience with a professional contractor and they made it painless/ seamless. We'll definitely recommend them to our friends and hope to line up some of our own bigger projects for them in the future, as our family grows. . .

We enjoyed working with Anthony to collaborate on a herringbone red and white oak flooring job. It was a pleasure working with Anthony and his wife to create beautiful flooring for their home along with hand hewn beam wraps. Excellent contractor with reliable construction skills and methods. Efficient and very professional. As an architect, I highly recommend them and they have the skills necessary to execute any detailed project beautifully. I have also enjoyed the experience of working as part Anthony's team. Anthony James Construction rebuilt our front porch from the ground up to the porch roof, the porch roof flashing, and 3 feet or so of cedar shakes on the second floor of the house; rebuilt the soffits, fascia, roof on the back porch, flashed the back porch roof to the house, and replaced about 3 feet or so of cedar shakes on the second floor of the house above the back porch; replaced the back porch floor with trex; removed the clapboard / cedar shakes on the first and second floor to blow in cotton insulation; replaced the cedar shakes on the second floor and third floor dormers with new Maibec mulberry cedar shakes; and, installed lanscaping around the front porch. Anthony Cerami was the general contractor on the job and attended to all the small details that transform a good job into to a great job. I also had another contractor - Monk's Painting - working on painting the house in conjunction with the work done by Anthony James Construction. Anthony was kind enough to offer advice on sequencing of the jobs to achieve the best overall result. Anthony's wife, Debbie, helped select the colors that we eventually decided to use for the exterior of the house. Anthony was courteous, prompt, thorough, consistent, and is obviously extremely knowledgeable. If you check his completed jobs, I believe you will be convinced in short order. In short, Anthony is a real pleasure to work with, being able to rely on his expertise removes oodles of stress that could otherwise be bothersome, and the finished result is - well - very satisfying. It has been a long project - I dithered a bit while absorbing all of Anthony's advice - completed in November of 2015 - and that comes with a bit of uncertainty / stress but my wife and I are both absolutely thrilled with the result. We are very, very happy with the advice we received and the job that Anthony James did for us. There is no way that we could have done it w/o Anthony. So, a big thank you to Anthony, Debbie, Marie, Anthony James Construction, and the rest of the crew.

Anthony James has changed my family's life for the BETTER! 13 years ago, he and his crew helped expand my house. He not only did a superior construction job, on time, his tremendous experience helped our architect design a much, much better living space. His people are the best. They were courteous, clean, and they finished the job within budget. My family spends all of our time in the rooms he created. We have never had a single complaint. Recently, I needed a small repair to my chimney (on the fireplace he suggested we add to the architect's design). It was a very minor repair job, and I called Anthony more for a referral than anything else. His receptionist checked with Anthony, and I was pleased when he picked up the phone. We had a great conversation, remembering the job (I'm a little bit of a perfectionist, and he is too... We got along very, very well, which is important in a big job). He agreed to send someone over to take a look. We set a date and time within the week, and to my surprise, Anthony accompanied Tom, his foreman, to do the estimate (I think he came along just to say hello, and to see the room one more time). Why am I telling you this? On a big construction job, it is important that you are able to work with your contractor, that you have a "fit", and that you can trust him. Anthony James is all of those things. He has the same people working for him today as he did 13 years ago, he takes an interest in his jobs (checking-in personally on a regular basis), and his finished product is absolutely beautiful. I have worked with Anthony for the last 15 years as a Pella sales rep and it has truly been a pleasure. Anthony is extremely knowledgeable, and professional in every sense. When looking for a builder to bring our 1950's split level into 'the new millennium,' our architect suggested we get a quote from Anthony James Construction. Despite this firm's stellar reputation, we honestly never thought we could afford this level of expertise. To our surprise, after reviewing our plans, Anthony agreed to take on the job at a cost we were all comfortable with. (I think the state of our home garnered his sympathy!) We were so excited to move forward. In all my years of living in this area, I had never heard one negative comment about a job taken on by this company. To the contrary....all reviews (through the community 'grapevine') were strictly about how wonderful the jobs turned out and how happy the clients were. We are now one of those clients. We took our 1950's outdated home and over the course of nine months...gutted and expanded our kitchen and incorporated an addition which became our new butler's pantry, dining room and sunroom. Included was the complete gutting of two out of three bathrooms and expanding out over our garage to create a his/her master bedroom closet. This project included all new appliances, plumbing fixtures, custom cabinetry, stone/marble counter tops, additional wood flooring, an amazingly large deck, new windows, new front, back and garage doors, as well as, the electrical and plumbing work that accompanies a job of this size. Anthony James is a firm with patience as my husband and I insisted on remaining in our home during the construction time period. We have completed several smaller renovation projects over the years but this company was the most respectful. There are simply not enough words to describe how much we grew to love the entire team. (How many clients can say that post construction?) Tommy is the premiere foreman who was basically on site each and every day holding our hands and guiding us along. This included the weekend of a hurricane when we were assured the exterior framing would definitely hold and the tarps covering my open roof would remain in place...and they did. 'Thinking outside the box' became the daily mantra. Taking the building 'code' into consideration, the Anthony James team did whatever it took to give us the details we wanted despite the constraints of support walls and the like. The process exemplified teamwork on all fronts. The sub contractors not only showed up when scheduled (a rarity in our past experience with renovation!) but were all aware that we were living in the house at the time and made sure to clean up the usual and expected construction mess at the end of each day. We were provided with professionals who were able to spot a discrepancy/inconsistency in our building plans allowing our architect to rectify the situation before things got too out of hand. Anthony's creative eye and experience assisted us in making the right decisions when it came to door, window and molding choices. A not so small detail is the fact that Anthony James Construction does not disappear when the final payment is handed over. Anthony has remained in touch and has visited our home to consult with us on any issues that have come up. (ie cracks in ceiling/wall due to settling.) As part of the Anthony James commitment to their clients, we are expected to be re-taped and re-spackled rather shortly. This renovation was a big learning experience for us and Anthony James Construction made it as painless as possible. We were given cell phone numbers/contact info for the team and call backs were pretty immediate if messages were left. Marie, the office manager, was always available with answers to any questions we may have had along the way re: scheduling, payments, etc. The project was brought in on time and would have probably been completed sooner than anticipated if not for delays in us making some decisions re: plumbing fixtures, marble slab choices, etc. We only have positive commentary where Anthony James Construction is concerned and look forward to having the opportunity to work with them on another project in the future.

We love our home renovation and owe a lot of the credit to Houzz (for the inspiration) and Anthony James Construction (for making it a reality). It's been over 6 months since work wrapped up and we still take pause when we enter our new kitchen, master bath, mud room, dining room, and main floor bath (budget $150-$200k) I would highly recommend Anthony James for a medium to large scale home improvement project. Simply put, Anthony, his crew, and the sub contractors he works with are all experienced professionals. They are collaborative, conscientious, and take great pride in their work. We spoke with five contractors before choosing Anthony James. We chose Anthony James because he seemed easiest to work with, had a long history of quality craftsmanship, and offered competitive pricing. Anthony listened to our ideas and worked from our rough sketches. He also has a staff, office in town, and sits on the variance board, all of which which add to the credibility of his work. I cannot say enough about the crew Anthony chooses to work with. Tommy Krause, the project manager, is amazing and fantastic to work with. He truly goes above and beyond his job description and was there every day to alleviate any concerns I had and to answer any and all questions. He is extremely helpful, patient, and was wonderful with our young children. We lived in the house while doing this project and while many people have told us it was horrendous to live through it, we did not have that experience at all. The kids were actually sad when the project wrapped up and we didn't get to see Tom or Anthony anymore! Anthony also works with Triton Plumbing (Rui and Gil are fantastic), Porcelli Electric (Joe is the owner and is great, George did the majority of the work and was absolutely wonderful to work with), Ray Ranucci (he did our cabinets and wood work and in addition to immaculate work, he was also like a part of the family), Florentino and Carlos were there to help with any odds and ends and are also great to work with. The project itself was split into two phases and lasted 8 months (not including contracting, architectural drawings, and town approvals). As with any project of this complexity and magnitude, there were a few hiccups along the way. For example a pipe burst on the top floor and water leaked onto the main floor and basement levels. Tom immediately had a cleaning crew come in, and Anthony took care of the carpet cleaning and replacing some basement ceiling tiles that were damaged. In summary, Anthony James is a great option if you're looking for quality, collaboration, and conscientiousness - all at a fair price.
