Scott has done numerous projects for us over the years. He has remodeled our kitchen and two of our bathrooms. He also added on a three season room, multiple decks, and built a screened gazebo. He is knowledgeable, creative, and meticulous. Scott worked with us to incorporate our ideas and offer solutions to make the most of our spaces.

Scott Briscoe has done three major projects for us as a result of his versatility, reliability, and excellent workmanship. The first came about when I needed someone to assemble a timber frame barn that comes in kit form. This turned out to be a challenge, because not many contractors are familiar with timber frame construction. Bad experiences with two well known local firms during fence and gas line installation projects had left me with little faith in trusting contractors. Scott Briscoe turned out to be the best person that I could have hoped to find, and demonstrated that there are still reliable contractors out there. He worked with me every step of the way. Each of the sub-contractors he brought in (excavators, mason, electrician, roofer, painter) were just as reliable and accommodating. Changes had to be made as we progressed. Each was discussed with me in depth so that we could all arrive at the best solution in the most economical way. I even had to leave the project in Scott’s hands for 3 weeks while my wife and I were on vacation in Europe. I returned to find that Scott had handled everything just as expected. The second project came just weeks after the first when Scott and I remedied the noticeably sagging main roof on our 170 year old home. I had already spent money on this problem about a decade earlier, but the fix was not adequate. Scott very knowledgably assessed the problem, and explained why the previous effort had failed. He permitted me to work with him so that I could better understand why his fix would last. His fix was no more costly, just better overall. The third project followed just a month later when we decided to remodel our master bedroom. The room had been damaged years ago when the home was abandoned. Some of the unique baseboards and floorboards had literally rotted away, then been covered over to hide the damage. Scott had new baseboards and floorboards custom made to match the old. The attached photos show before and after shots of the barn, plus the wall and floor that rotted away in our bedroom. Note the pents (small roofs) over the small doors to the barn. These were not in the plans, but fabricated by Scott after I showed him a photo of a similar barn I had found in a library book.

Scott has done several jobs for us, and one for our son. He rebuilt the outer walls of our family room and installed several banks of windows. This was a large undertaking. He also repaired our garage door framing, installed replacement exhaust lines for our high efficiency furnace and devised an ingenious way to cover them. I like that he will do smaller jobs as well as major construction jobs. He is meticulous in every detail. He is knowledgeable and an excellent craftsman. He is honest and dependable. He communicates clearly. I can't say enough about him.

My wife and I cannot recommend Briscoe Construction enough! Scott (who is the owner and you always work with him) was always prompt and courteous when it came to working on our house; he always laid down drop clothes and wouldn't leave until he cleaned up. Scott also worked well with us. We wanted two walls removed and a beam put up, but wanted to do some of the work ourselves. Scott made accommodations for us so that we could do most of the demolition work ourselves. He offered us to do the mudding/sanding, but we passed on that. We also installed most of the trim ourselves, but struggled to properly cut an inside corner with crown molding and he did that little job for us at no extra charge when he was in the area. Scott was able to work with out budget and price out different pieces of the work so that we could decide what parts we wanted to do ourselves and which jobs he would do. We also installed our own flooring and did the painting ourselves. We also hired Scott a year later to put up foamboard insulation in our attic and to install a new window (into a wall) and were very happy with that job as well. I've included a before and after photo as well (please don't mind the laundry!!).

Scott recently updated our master bath, enlarged our master bedroom closets and re-framed several doorways. He is very experienced, honest, easy to work with and stays on budget. He provided different options for wall and floor tile layouts and always consulted me before moving forward on design. The work area was cleaned up beautifully each day. I highly recommend him.
