Butel Construction

We are so happy to have found Butel Construction. We are first time homeowners and knew we wanted a wall in our house taken down to make the space more open. It was the first time we ever attempted any construction to this price and degree and we were quite nervous (even though their company has done projects ten times bigger than this). Shai answered all my questions, was very forthcoming, spent a lot of time explaining everything to me - and this was before I every signed a single thing. The price was also the most reasonable I found and the end result did not disappoint. The project went smoothly and finished earlier than they had planned, even knocking down the price when they demoed the wall and discovered a beam was already in place and a new one was no longer needed. We have other things in mind for our house and are definitely looking forward to working with Shai and Butel Construction again.

We really enjoyed working with Shai and Butel Construction. Shai and his crew were always responsive to our questions and concerns and were fair and honest in terms of costs and timing. The time he estimated for the work was remarkably accurate. He was patient and attentive, and went above and beyond what was necessary when he saw the need and to ensure the quality of the work. Shai has a good eye for what will look good in your home and what's the most cost effective way to get something done. The Butel Construction crew is also kind, considerate and attentive. They are very pleasant to work with- and really work as a team. Construction and renovation can be a stressful process and we felt very lucky to have Butel Construction working with us through the process.

Butel was wonderful to work with; they were very helpful and patient with us, since we were first-time homeowners and wanted to restore our 1920s Spanish style home that was not in great condition. They were responsive and provided us with resources like subcontractors and places to source material, but were also flexible and worked with whatever we wanted to use, regardless of whether or not we sourced from them. Whenever there were unexpected challenges they worked with us to make sure we were satisfied. A few additional costs and delays came up during the job, but they were all 100% justified (again, old house with crazy things like asbestos pipes hidden in walls) and handled very well. The house looks just the way we wanted it to, and everything finally works (when we first moved in pre-renovation just about nothing worked right)! Description of work: Home renovation (two bathrooms, full kitchen, coordinated with subcontractors for HVAC install, created laundry nook, refinished walls, ceilings, and floors, moved doorway, other structural work)

I worked with Butel Construction on building our 2 story 3bed 3bath house in 2015. We were originally planning to add-on 2nd floor on our small 2bed 2bath house, with very little extension to the existing floor plans as that was what our budget allowed. However, we had set the plan in motion only to find out we couldn't work with the original contractor as they didn't satisfy the bank requirements for the loan. We were left with now a city-approved building plan (having cost us $15k+) and bank-approved budget, but none of the 4~6 contractors were willing to honor the specified budget. Everyone thought it would cost way more. We had no choice but to shelve the project, as by this time I was in a 2nd trimester on a twin pregnancy. When twins turned 6 months, I decided to interview several more contractors in the hopes of finding some ways to not waste all the efforts and money we had put into the plan. I must say I was a bit skeptical when I was met with the following response by Shai and Rotem @Butel Constructions: "They've promised you that house for that budget, and we think you should have it. We will make it work for you" ...I swear they looked like some kind of renovation angels. Long story short, Butel Construction not only made our once-seemingly-too-ambitious remodel possible, but they basically ended up demo'ing our house and building a brand new 2 story house from ground and up without changing the initial budget on the contract. Of course we spent way over the original budget, but mostly due to us requesting additional features, like slicker staircases, skylights and and bigger windows etc. I should also add that their estimate on the schedule was fairly accurate besides the time we had to wait for new engineering plan. This was helpful since we had to coordinate a rental house during the construction. There is so much to remodeling non-professionals like us will have to learn as the project unfolds, and it can be draining both mentally and physically. I felt so lucky to be working with Shai because not only him and his team were very capable, but also I found Shai's straightforward, honest and positive attitude almost therapeutic. Throughout the entire project duration Shai was always available, engaging, open-minded and sensitive to our various needs while keeping the project under control and on budget by using well-priced vendors and materials and making well-educated suggestions. Most of his workers were highly professional and pleasant and they all seem to share respect and affection for Shai, which I thought said a lot about how the company operates. Even though we were ecstatic when we got to move back into the new house, I must say I was a bit sad that my daily communication with Shai and his guys were coming to an end :'-( I believe the project could have been a lot more stressful, if not impossible, if it weren't for Butel Construction and I would happily go through it all over again with them if another opportunity presents itself in the future!!

Shai and his team were a pleasure to work with and I recommend them highly. I have a small 1Bdr, 1Ba + Loft Condo. I stayed in my condo during the renovation, which I wouldn't recommend for the weak of heart! Butel Construction lessened my living impact by accommodating me with a temporary utility sink and they were very quick to complete critical phases in the bathroom. Shai and his team kept me updated on everything they were doing and also on what I needed to provide or decide. They were always available to contact with any questions or issues that came up and responded quickly, plus they resolved every issue without any fuss. I absolutely love the quality of the finished work that they did and am thrilled with my beautiful new kitchen and bath!
