Coggeshall Construction

I've worked with David on and off for 30 years, and just finished two major remodels with him in Country Club that I designed. Both were highly complex structurally, with extremely high levels of finish. He is honest and energetic, and has a great eye for design. Perhaps that's why we get along so well. His subcontractors are loyal and skilled, and there isn't a day that goes by without at least one trade on the job, and often there are 2 or 3 working at once. I look forward to more years of collaboration on future projects!

My experience with Coggeshall Construction was both terrible and costly. I hired them to complete a $700K+ renovation on my historical home. Coggeshall made a lot of promises regarding completion time frames and costs and missed both by a lot. Personally, I found David Coggeshall to be unprofessional and I believe he charged me for work that was not completed. He did more than $100K of work on unapproved change orders even though our contract said I had to approve any change orders. I sent him emails saying I would no longer pay for any change order that I did not approve in advance but he just keep making changes without approval. Then he sent me a bill and when I asked for an explanation of the work completed, he refused to provide details. He had a sub-contractor who wasn't being paid that placed a lien on my home, even though I had a signed Lien Release from David. He is threatening to take me to Court to make me pay him for work in change orders. He also did not follow the drawings causing structural problems with my house. I had to have my structural engineer review the mistakes and write a letter of deficiencies. He, essentially, destroyed one of the historical aspects of my home and when I demanded he fix the mistake at his cost, he still tried to charge me. When I challenged him on these issues, he tried to bully me into paying him anyway and now has high-priced lawyers trying to bully me on his behalf. I only hope to save others the pain I have endured by making the mistake of hiring Coggeshall construction.
