Mark and Diligent Construction did a full remodel of our bathroom and were so thrilled with the results we hired him again to do a face-lift on our kitchen. Mark and his team are professional, responsive, knowledgeable and trustworthy. Every aspect was thoughtfully considered and under Mark’s careful supervision. I can’t say enough about the quality craftsmanship and attention to detail. Under construction, the job site was clean and they ensured we’d be able to comfortably live in our home for the duration of the project. Both projects came in on-time and within budget. I would use Diligent Construction again in a heartbeat and couldn’t recommend them high enough.

I first met Mark a couple of years ago, when I needed someone to repair and fix a poor drywall job done by a different contractor. Since then, Mark and Diligent have become my go to contractor for jobs big and small. He's done work in our bathrooms, interior and exterior painting, and drywall work. He knows his stuff, his pricing is reasonable, he and his crew are conscientious workers who do a great job. If friends and neighbors are looking for a contractor I always recommend Mark without hesitation. The peace of mind that comes with a great contractor is a huge relief. I can't say enough how pleased I've been with the work Mark and Diligent have done for us.

Mark is one of the most professional, easy to work with contractors I've met. He is straightforward, he's strong on communication (it's both clear and timely), and he's just plain kind and easy to work with. We always knew where we stood on our project and when things changed, we had a heads up and we discussed before taking any action. His work is impeccable. Mark was in regular contact with our designed on the smallest of details, without us having to be involved, and it left no room for error. The outcome of our two bathrooms + one closet is just stunning. I would 100% recommend Mark and his crew to anyone for any job!

My husband and I did a remodel at our house in Westchester. We could not be happier with the work done my Mark and his team at Diligent Construction. They were polite efficient and incredibly honest. Their pricing was surprisingly reasonable for all that they did. The project lasted a few months and was stress free. They showed up when they said and kept all the dust to a minimum. I actually was sorry to have it get finished so we just contacted them to remodel a bathroom. We have also referred them to a friend that used them for her kitchen and she raved. Mark and his crew renovated two bathrooms at my home and I could not have been happier with the process from start to finish. I knew there was shoddy work from a previous renovation, so it was extremely comforting that Mark explained the process and broke down the pricing and steps for me along the way so I knew what was happening. I was also expecting my first child throughout the bathroom remodel process and the whole crew was so accommodating and considerate throughout the whole time from making sure no dust from the site got out to staying late to make sure the toilet was installed before the weekend. Excited to work with Mark and his crew for the ADU he helped us get permitted next!

If you are looking for a contractor, you won’t find anyone better than Diligent Construction to do the job. The definition of the word diligent is: showing care and conscientiousness in one's work or duties. And this could not be more true of Mark and his team. I can write this with confidence because I contracted with Mark and his company to do a renovation on my 2 story 2,850 square foot home that was built in 1921. We had a budget of 300k, and the work that was performed turned out not just beautifully but above expectations. For as massive a job as the renovation was, and for as many things as we ended up changing and adding on to the initial scope of work, Mark and his team still managed to finish almost within the same timeframe originally promised and without stretching our budget much further than what we originally agreed to. More importantly, I believe Mark is trustworthy and follows through on his word. These characteristics are almost non-existent in most contractors. I’ve been particularly impressed with Mark’s followup since the renovation ended. With jobs as big as the one he did for me, there are inevitably little things that need adjusted and fixed after the fact, and Mark and his team have been on top of each of those little things. From the moment Mark took over the job, I felt my house was safe and secure, and I continued to feel that way throughout the entire remodeling process. Furthermore, the level of cleanliness on the job site was truly wonderful and Mark’s team seemed to fully respect the spaces they were working on. Finally, Mark may be slightly more expensive than other contractors out there when he gives you a bid, but this is because Mark gives you a REAL NUMBER, not one that he will inflate later with change orders like so many other contractors will do. I cannot stress how important this is, especially if you are trying to stay on a budget. I have worked with two other contractors on substantial renovations in the past, and potentially the biggest lesson I’ve learned is, you get what you pay for, and I believe hiring Diligent Construction has been worth every penny of my hard earned money, and I would encourage anyone looking for a contractor to hire Mark in a heartbeat.

Mark and his team were excellent! We hired them for a very big and complicated project (e.g. remodeling every room and common space in an 1800 sqft house). The work they did was fantastic and looked as good or better than anything we were expecting. They kept us very well informed of all costs and expenses and did their best to give us options and explanations whenever any additional costs came up (which is inevitable) and also tried to go the extra mile to help keep costs down as much as possible. They were so good we ended up hiring them for two other contracting jobs after they were done with our first big project. They will also be the first call we make for any work we need done in the future. I would highly recommend them to anyone looking for a reliable, honest, reasonably priced and above all highly skilled team of contractors.

Mark and team were hired to remodel my daughter’s bathroom. His team was on time, on budget and at the house daily. He partnered with our designer and the partnership was seamless between all parties. The bathroom looks amazing and the process was one of the best I have ever had with a contractor.

I have worked with Diligent Construction on several client projects. As an interior designer, I am looking to recommend someone to my clients who is experienced, professional, has excellent finishing skills and has a broad range of construction skills. Mark has all of these qualities and more. He has an attention to detail that is far above excellent. His team is also friendly, skilled, and experienced in many trades. They are excellent kitchen, bathroom and whole house contractors. Mark is kind, honest and a joy to work with - I look forward to my next project with Diligent, Mark and his team.

Five stars, for real. (This is the same as my Yelp review.) There's no end to some people's horror stories about construction jobs. So do three things before you start. (I'll get to Diligent in a moment.) 1. Totally scope out the job; no "requirements creep" change orders. In order for us to do this we had a designer so we could make a plan without making mistakes. 2. Assess your tired old house's weaknesses. I knew we had cloth insulated wiring in places and some foundation cracks. All of that was in the scope of the job, not in "I've got some bad news" difficult conversations. (Why do they never do this on HGTV; must be better TV drama to stick it to the homeowners instead of, oh I don't know, looking first?) I also knew there'd never be a better time to update as much plumbing as I could and run and terminate a 240 volt line to the front of the house for a future plug-in car. So that was in-scope too. 3. Hire Mark. Diligent was a solid partner all the way through the job. See starmichaeldesign.com/com. Star was our designer (five stars for her too) and, in spite of the URL, ours was the "Beverly Hills Estate," which is a bit of an overstatement for my modest non-estate-like home in the SE corner of the city. Pretty much everything you see in those photos was done by Diligent. Everything went down to the studs (walls, floor, ceiling) in the kitchen, master bathroom and powder room. Most of the work was done by them and most of the rest by their subs. Demo and removal, plumbing (visible and hidden), electrical, flooring (including leveling), tile (floor, backsplash and all of the bathroom work), fixture and appliance installations, hanging mirrors, framing and installing windows, etc. What you don't see in the photos is the complete redo of the powder room downstairs (almost as big a job as the others), the flooring continuing through the living room/dining room and recessed lighting in the living room. I know a bit about construction and was watching as we went along. These guys have the skills combined with the integrity to do quality work at a fair price without attempting to squeeze a few extra bucks out of suckers. The best compliment I can give them is that I gave them more work. They did the second upstairs bathroom as another job because everything went so well. Two important factors. 1. They are fastidious about clean-up; at the end of the day I felt like I should shoo them out because they were doing too good a cleanup job. My wife and I stayed in the house while the work was being done; something that could have been a challenge with the master bath work right there. 2. They were on schedule to-the-day. Until the cabinet doofuses got in. Manzano (5 stars for the (eventual) quality of the work; 1 star because you may have to quit your daytime job to berate them into doing quality work; they'll do it but only after you keep rejecting their initial sub-standard attempts) took like three weeks to do what should have been a four to five day job. But Diligent wasn't the source of the cabinet sub, so no marks off for Mark. Communication was good, we were all clear on the plan, Mark got all the permits and inspections done, accounting was straightforward and the payment schedule worked fine for both of us. And I never thought I was getting shunted because of whatever other jobs Diligent had going. And the results speak for themselves. There really wasn't anything on the punch list because Mark did it right or made it right before I ever saw an issue. I don't think I'll ever have a job this size again (until after the earthquake). But I keep going back to Mark for additional tasks or recommendations on subs (like roofers). If he has someone he works with, I want to work with them too because I trust Mark. Diligent gets five stars because they earned them all on a pretty significant job.

We got our roof replaced and Attic Re-enforced.Amazing work! Mark was very professional and and did not rush me or the process.He arrived to our home,and even went into the attic to inspect it.He then gave us an estimate,then sometime later,once we decided to go with them,He was able to give us an exact estimate.It was a really fair price.Mark and his team was very communicative and was available whenever we had any questions or concerns.I highly recommended them and am going to hire them again for my next home renovation.
