Finished Basements Plus

Theses guys are really just the best. Cliche? Uhhh no. We had them remodel our basement a few years ago and became quite impressed with how they presented their ideas and how our vision could come to life. Their process, communication and ability to stay on schedule was quite remarkable. Recently, when we decided to remodel our home office, we didn't hesitate to reach out and see if they would take on the project. Once again, they surpassed our expectations. It is just so refreshing today to find companies that keep their word, communicate effectively, and stay on schedule and budget. I cannot recommend them enough.

Experience was great from first visit from salesperson, to designer, to working professionals, to project manager through completion. Staff was always available for any problems, questions and concerns. The design was more than we expected and the finished project has that "wow" factor that we get now from guests.

Professional and quality from top to bottom. Easy to work with, nothing was ever a problem. Ran on time. A dream, really. 10/10

The process works very well, they have the entire project laid out from day one and finish when they said they would. The extra steps to use as much mold resistant materials in MI basements was extremely valuable to me.

Excellent staff to work with. We had put off remodeling our basement for years, and finally decided to move forward. Both the design manager and project manager were great to deal with. The project was completed within 2 weeks of the estimated end of the remodel. All issues were resolved in a timely manner. After reviewing the final results, my son also contracted with Basements Plus to do his basement project. To be honest, the project cost was more than we anticipated, (just post Covid) but having project management, professional contractors under one umbrella, was worth the investment. I recommend this company

The team at Finished Basements Plus was great during our total basement remodel. We couldn't be happier with the process and how it turned out!

The problems started before they ever even performed the work. First, I had to reach out to them several times in order just to get a date. Then, the day before their scheduled work date I never even got a confirmation call from them and had to phone them to confirm. Even then they never gave me a ETA and I waited until 10am on the work date with no word when I finally called the salesperson, Wayne. He assured me they'd be there by noon, but then I got a call from someone else saying 2pm. At 2pm I got a call from a crew leader stating that my scheduled crew had been delayed at another job so his crew was coming out at 2:30 to do the prep work and that my original crew would be there at 4pm. Um, 4pm on a Friday? Riiiight. Sure enough, no one showed up. And when I phoned the office, of course no one answered. So back to Wayne I went because I had his cell number; he explained that he was so very sorry for the lack of communication and that he "has never had a phone call like this" and that he would check into it. Later, someone called saying the crew would be out at 9am the following Monday. When the General Manager, Craig, called me that evening to apologize I told him that if I didn't already have a trench jackhammered into my basement from the prep team's visit I would just ask for my money back. Come Monday, things only got worse. We specifically asked our salesperson if they could waterproof only the bottom part of one wall in our basement that was already drywalled and has wiring in it. He assured us that was doable, so Friday's prep team cut a flood cut along the bottom of that wall and 2' into the adjoining wall, which we we understood would be happening. They insisted all the drywall on that wall had to come down so they tore it down along with 1' of the adjoining wall (leaving a jagged seam along the ceiling drywall). But you may recall that Friday's team cut a 2' section out of the adjoining wall. So the team waterproofed 1' of the adjoining wall and left a gaping 1' hole next to it where there coworkers had cut on Friday. IN ADDITION, they simply left the electrical wiring hanging from our ceiling. So we now have one dangling cable with our light switch and an outlet on it, and another dangling cable with our very heavy sump pump backup system plugged into the outlet on it. When I contacted them to complain that their crew had basically destroyed our basement, Craig the General Manager came out to inspect the job and said he would, in fact, send a crew out to repair the drywall and fix the dangling wiring. He assured me that he'd be in touch with a date for that repair; that conversation happened a week and a half ago and I have yet to hear back from him. I deeply regret my choice to go with this company. I had a tiny trickle of water in my basement this spring that I was trying to get out ahead of with this repair; now I have thousands of dollars of damage as a result.

Finished Basements Plus did an absolutely incredible job transforming our unfinished basement into a stylish and beautiful space packed with purpose. From the first interaction with the sales team we knew we were in good hands, from there it only got better. They were punctual, knowledgable, kept our home clean, and most importantly did fantastic work! We had a complex project with multiple defined spaces, a large glass wall, multiple types of flooring, mirrored walls, a bathroom with sauna and steam etc. and each and every component of our basement turned out perfect. We couldn't be more thrilled with the end result and can't recommend the team at Finished Basements Plus enough! Thanks

Our basement was the only place I had to use for my art and photography work, but for four to six months of the year, it was too cold to use. We received estimates from various contractors but were sold on Finished Basements Plus when we went to an open house shortly after we had had an in-home consultation. The quality of work was excellent. Our project took about eight weeks to complete. Steve M. was our dedicated project manager, and anytime I called him with a question, he was already one step ahead of me with an answer or solution. Our friends who have seen it absolutely love the look of the space. I love that it is warm- we have rigid insulation on the walls and floor- and that it is truly functional for our needs. My husband, the die-hard Lions fan that he is, loves to watch his team play in this space and I love that the drop-ceiling muffles the sounds of his tears when they lose. The secret door is sweet! Previously, we had a door which was functional, but took up a lot of wall space. The carpentry crew did a fantastic job with the creation of the bookcase/secret door unit. All of the subcontractors that came into our home were respectful and courteous and cleaned up the jobsite daily. We got through a huge reno and enjoyed the process and are thrilled with the final result.

Finished Basements Plus did a great job in remodeling our basement. Originally the basement was nothing but a catch all that wasn't used for anything but storage and a place for our elliptical. Now it is a beautiful place that is used for family events and a great place to just hang out and watch TV. We are so happy with the design and workmanship that Finished Basement Plus provided. We would highly recommend Finished Basements Plus to anyone that is looking to finish their basement.

We were impressed and very pleased with Finished Basements Plus. We re-finished our basement in a very old small home to add a "guest apartment" space. Now it's amazing and beautiful and very inviting and welcoming to use. They finished on time and our first guests arrived within a week. They were truly amazed and impressed with how beautiful and nice it was. They walked around with their mouths open and said, "wow, this is amazing!" Finished Basements Plus was a real pleasure to do business with. They clearly love what they do, took pride in their work, had excellent communication and organizational skills, were respectful to our property and to us, cleaned up after themselves with pride each day, did quality work, and were such genuinely good people that made it fun to do this job. We also appreciated the design professionals and software they had to make the job easier for us, make optimal use of the space, and made it so beautiful. Also, we loved BuilderTrend...their online account providing up-to-date information and daily calendar of job progression. We especially love the upgraded custom built paneling on the snack bar wall and the Alturna Vinyl Floor that looks like wood plank floor. It's so beautiful and well worth the upgrade. When there were mistakes or a problem (which were few), they were quick to respond and solve them. Such as, the interior doors that were delivered and partially installed were the wrong doors. They swiftly removed and returned them and had the new ones there and installed within the next day or two. Another mistake caused by both them and us was fairly and professionally resolved. If I had to describe Finished Basements Plus in one word it would be "impressive." I would definitely recommend Finished Basements Plus to anyone thinking about finishing their basement, and if you are only thinking about it, do it! You'll love it and be glad you did!
