FirCrest Developments Ltd.

FirCrest was hired by us to remove three layers of siding on a 12-unit apartment building, circa 1910. The building, as constructed, is 33 feet wide and approx. 80 feet long, on a sloping 33-foot-wide lot. The building is three stories at the front and four stories at the back. Materials handling was a constant challenge. FirCrest obtained all the necessary permits from City Hall, and also negotiated signed permission from our neighbours on both sides to accommodate the scaffolding required. Plywood sheathing, rain screening, HardiePlank, 11 windows, trim, and the existing front door were replaced. As is the case with most renovations, unknown damage cropped up and was dealt with professionally. Some external drainage work was also installed on both sides of the building. The work was carried out in a timely and efficient manner to the required engineer's specifications, with all the workers being respectful of us as owners and tenants in the building. Our neighbours were also very complimentary on how little they were impacted during the construction process. We would have no hesitation in recommending FirCrest’s services. Their work has greatly improved the appearance of our building, and also ensured that some of the issues we were experiencing with a 100-year-old structure have been removed. The economic life expectancy of the building has been increased, which is a benefit to both our mortgage and insurance providers.

Our strata had worked with Fircrest before and knew them to be professional, trustworthy and reliable, therefore they were the natural choice after a serious leak from a balcony that caused extensive rot, and potential structural problems, both in our unit and the one next door. Jack and his team safely removed the damaged material, including doors, frames and floorboards. They replaced everything to a high standard and ensured that the problem could not recur by making improvements to the balcony and doorstep areas, to prevent further leaks. Jack also managed the whole project, co-ordinating other trades. We were impressed by Fircrest’s professional approach, refusal to cut corners and maintenance of high standards throughout. Jack and the team are also personable, unintrusive and a pleasure to work with. In short, I highly recommend them and, if faced with a similar project in future, I would not want to work with anyone else.

As our previous experience with contractors has been less than satisfactory, we were delighted to engage the services of Jack Gibson and his project manager Mike Doll to build the decking on our rooftop decks. Upon meeting this team, we knew we were in skilled, knowledgeable hands. The Fircrest team was punctual and courteous, managed problems proactively and left their workspaces tidy. Since the rooftop decking project, Fircrest has been employed by our Strata to do remedial water ingress work. They improved the functionality of our gutter system and fixed the issues. Most recently, Fircrest replaced our rooftop storage doors and frames. I would not hesitate to recommend Fircrest Developments to anyone looking for a professional team that approaches projects with expertise, ingenuity and deep knowledge.

One of the most important elements of a successful building project is having an excellent team of contractors. So when it came time for my wife and I to undertake a major renovation, a professional engineer directed us to Jack Gibson and his team at FirCrest Developments. We found FirCrest to be very professional, reliable and knowledgeable. Most Importantly for us was the fact that they were very accommodating and helpful when it came to changes and adapting to existing conditions as is the case with major renovations. We recently did a major renovation on our house here in Chilliwack and we had FirCrest Developments do the framing for us. It is with great pleasure that we share a much deserving very positive assessment of the service they provided. The framing crew were clearly very knowledgeable and experienced. This was manifested by efficiency and perfection in their workmanship. All steps appeared to be second-nature to them resulting in the work being completed in a very timely manner. They went above and beyond what was expected of them, suggesting upgrades, design and structural improvements, and helping with removal of demo materials. We quickly acquired a trust in them and enjoyed their pleasant and professional disposition. Their fees were very fair and reasonable. Hats off to them!

I called Jack at FirCrest as a referral from another contractor as I needed help with an attic conversion project I was working on at our home. From beginning to end, he was excellent to deal with. Personable, knowledgeable, and very straight forward. His team that came onsite to do the actual work all worked efficiently, and accomplished the requested work promptly. Aside from being prompt, the work was done incredibly well. I have worked with many trades in the past, and I put them toward the top of my experiences. They were always in direct consultation with me, and often offered suggestions of changes to my design, which often provided far better outcomes than what I had planned. They even referred me to other specialized trades for other aspects of the project that I needed professionals for. They were not an inexpensive option, but considering the quality, and promptness of the work and all the experience they brought to the job, it was very much worth the price. The completed work was exceptional.
