GAINES GENERAL CONTRACTING

We enlisted Michael Gaines Contracting to enlarge a bedroom and add a new bathroom for our house in West Torrance. Michael Gaines was recommended to us by a friend and neighbor who remodeled their entire house in Redondo Beach. From the beginning, I liked Michael's honesty and straightforward approach during the estimate and bidding process. He took the time to listen to what we were trying to do and then thoroughly explained how he intended to proceed. We asked for both a cost estimate and timeline for completion of the project. Michael's bid was not the lowest or the quickest but also was what I considered to be very reasonable. During the work, Michael took great effort to be flexible and adjust to both our ideas and changes, and the city planning department's unpredictable demands. Our project was completed a little over a week beyond the estimated completion date, and that included a lot of additional work that we threw in (air conditioning for the entire house and other things) and a lot of unexpected demands from the city. The addition to the bedroom is beautiful, the hardwood floor matches the existing hardwood beautifully, and the new bathroom (shower, toilet, vanity) is also fantastic. In addition, Michael was completely honest and transparent in settling the final contract price, and even refunded money for any work that was not completed to his satisfaction. We would definitely recommend Gaines Contracting to anyone looking for a general contractor for their property, and we plan to contact Michael for any future home contracting work that we need.
