We built our mountain home in Tahoe Donner with Scott Gunter of Gunter Construction. We chose one of his plans that suited our unique lot and made only two minor modifications. Scott's team built us a beautiful home and we stayed on budget. He is very "hands on" and personally supervised every stage of the work. Scott accommodated our special requests and made sure that everything was completed to his very high standards. Scott's honesty and integrity about the process was very reassuring to our family. We are very happy with our choice of Scott Gunter and our new home.

We have had the privilege of working with Scott for the past 7 years now, and we have had a great experience thus far. We take a lot of pride in our work and like to work with people who are like minded. Scott takes a lot of pride in the work he does. He cares about the quality of the work and craftsmanship that go into the homes he builds. He also cares that his clients are truly satisfied with their home.

My husband and I had the pleasure of working with Scott on the building and creation of our new home in Truckee CA. At completion Scott presented us with a beautiful housewarming gift as well as a note saying that we had "forged a friendship"; indeed we had! Our list of "must haves" for our contractor's characteristics and qualities are in order of importance: Trustworthy Outstanding craftsmanship Good eye for design and function Great communication skills, the ability and desire to listen - knowing he/she would follow-up Ability to keep the project on time and with-in budget Scott has all of these qualities and characteristics, in addition so pleasant and patient. We would build another house with Scott. We give him a 5 star rating!

We had a wonderful experience with Gunter Construction, from beginning our discussions to putting the final touches on our beautiful new home. Scott Gunter is a pleasure to work with. He is very responsive, brings creative ideas to the job, and oversees a crew of excellent workers. He is very transparent about the schedule and the charges. Gunter Construction completely exceeded our expectations during the entire process of building our mountain home. Scott was extremely responsive throughout the project and often communicated status and timelines. Scott took this a step further and provided periodic photos since we were not local for the building process. He further insured we were making good decisions as we made design and build decisions. The end result was a home with incredible quality and workmanship!

Scott was fantastic to work with. He really listened to what we wanted and he paid attention to our budget. We worked on many design ideas collaboratively and he always brought good ideas to the table. He was easy to get in touch with and great at communicating with us all through our project. I really can't say enough good things about him. I would definitely recommend him.

Scott built our beautiful house in Martis Camp. Being a long-time Truckee local contractor, we had great comfort working with him, knowing that he was well-connected with the various sub-contractors and the community. He was extremely easy to work with during the entire project. Scott was very flexible in his approach to our project. Not only did he incorporate suggestions from us during the project, he provided his own recommendations to improve the style and comfort of our home during the construction phase, all at the same time being conscientious about our budget. At times, he worked directly with our architect and interior designer to answer any questions that arose during the project. Throughout our entire project, Scott had clear communication with us on progress and timelines. He completed our project on schedule and within the budget that we anticipated. Scott has a professional and easy going demeanor which made the entire building experience pleasurable. Even after our home was completed, Scott was available to followup on any questions we had after we moved in or small items that are expected with new construction. We highly recommend Scott to anyone!

We bought a house that Scott had built for 1 prior owner 4 years earlier and I was introduced to him through our real estate agent. He came by and gave lots of the history and ins/outs of the house - very helpful in the buying process. No pressure on doing a project or pitching any work, just great info for us in the buying process. As we were nearing closing, I asked him to roughly give a quote to add and extra room by digging out a ~15x15 crawlspace with a lot of complex re-plumbing and heating challenges and he gave an estimate quickly with no pressure to move forward. The first winter he gave me a call to say that we had a problem with ice dam buildup on the roof. He had been driving by, saw the problem, sent pictures with links to info online. In asking how to take care of it, he offered to take care of it inexpensively - again no pressure, just information with an honest offer to help. This was the first time that I actually paid him for anything and it was ~$200. Easy $ to spend given I didn't have to crawl on the roof in the epic snow of 2010 and chop ice 40-50 feet off the ground. Two years after purchasing the house, we asked for a formal bid to build out the room which was about 20% higher than the "off the cuff" initial estimate, which was reasonable given the changes to the project scope and further review. In a 10 week period over the fall, he started the project on time, finished the project on time and came in about 10% under budget - when does that ever happen? As this is a second home and we live in the Bay Area, he managed the project from start to finish, keeping me up to date regularly and only asked that I come by once in person to check in and make some bigger decisions. Best of all, final quality was excellent. We couldn't be happier with the house and the project result (timeliness, quality, budget, basically everything) and I will be hiring him again for any project that we need assistance on in the future. I just wish he did work in the Bay Area as my search for someone comparable has not been successful. I'd be happy to be a reference, just ask Scott for my info.

Scott did major work to our house that we bought in the tahoe/truckee area. He was highly recommended from several sources and we couldn't have been happier with the quality, timing and cost of the remodel we completed. He has excellent sub's and delivers on time and on budget. Scott managed and completed several projects including remodeling and landscape/hardscape additions. We will continue to use Scott to manage our property and do any future work.

I have worked with Scott Gunter on middle to high end residential projects. In the true meaning of the word, he is a professional. He knows his trade from beginning to end, and has developed a good working relationships with quality tradesmen. Scott communicates very well with his customers in all aspects and stages of their project.
