We hired James to change the layout of our SF victorian apartment and open up rooms to have it more open, and add a bathroom. It was a pleasure working with him and his crew. He completed the pproject in time and was always advising when needed working with our architect to navigate all challenges.

I hired JP Builders to do a full house rebuilt / remodel after evaluating multiple general contractors recommended by my architect Feldman Architecture. The co-owner James is amazing to work with - trustworthy, friendly, diligent, and does top quality work at reasonable prices. He is a great project manager / planner who built a detailed, well thought out schedule that spelled exactly what decision he needs from us by when to stay on schedule. Our friends who did similar scale projects were amazed at how on schedule and on budget our project was. I recommended JP builders to my family, neighbors, and friends for their projects. If I do another project in the future, I would definitely hire James again.

We are so lucky to have selected JP Builders and to have had Carolyn Van Lang's talents and eye (architect/designer) and my husband's vision! Our big project transformed a still 1976 house into a show stopper. John (the 'J' in JP Builders, is calm, communicates clearly and is patient. His subs (concrete, stucco, roof) were responsive to him. His talented crew was hard working, clean, polite. They all care about quality and your budget and the outcome that will make you happy. John's expertise and broad experience with materials and engineering came into play several times which helped us problem solve. We had confidence in John and his crew from start to finish. Despite weeks of rain, we finished about on time and what I'd call on budget - no real surprises in updating 4 bathrooms, changing kitchen location & remodel, roofline changes, and small addition as well as bringing up to current code in CA and Bay area. John knows his stuff and if he doesn't know absolutely for sure, he finds out. His time management and skills are outstanding. Thanks to all that worked on this long involved project.

I've collaborated with JP Builders on a few project so far and plan to work with them again soon. James asks the right questions, I can trust him to make the right decisions, and the work is done to the client's expectations which is most important of all.

I hired JP Builders for a complete renovation of my existing kitchen and two bathrooms, plus the addition of a new master bedroom/bathroom suite, laundry room and stair well. I chose them out of three competing contractor bids and very much feel that I made the right choice. From the beginning, I found the owner, James Yu, to be knowledgeable and professional, and his proposal was thorough and fairly priced. Throughout the construction processes, I was highly impressed with his responsiveness. Every time that I needed to contact him, he always picked up my call within the first couple of rings and made himself available to discuss the project and meet in person when necessary. I made many of the design and material decisions, and lots of changes, during the construction process and James was always patient and accommodating. He always focused on doing everything within his control to keep the project on schedule and on budget. Except for change orders that I requested, he stuck with the original contract price without any significant surprises. My home ended up amazing and better than I every imagined possible. Everyone who has seen the before and after can hardly believe the transformation and wants to know who the contractor was. I am already planning another addition and JP Builder is on the top of my list of contractors.

I thought JP Builders did an incredible job with our project which was to create an over 1,000 square foot open great space living area within a mid century house plus gut renovations to various rooms including the kitchen and bathrooms as well as upgrading the infrastructure of the home to the 21st Century. The quality of the finished construction was excellent and the thoroughness of the work in the behind the scenes infrastructure with things like seamless span and hidden supports gives us a lot of comfort that this house is solidly built to last for a long time. The construction budget and timeline was both very transparent and kept on schedule and within budget. James who managed the project was very professional and smoothly coordinated the project with us as the owner as well as with the trade people, the designer and the city inspector. I would definitely recommend JP Builders as well as use them again if we had future projects.

Wanted to do a follow up review on JP Builders. Almost 8 years after JP Builders completed the construction for me, I called James on some issues I have with the sliding glass doors. Despite being super busy in a very hot market, James sent 2 of his crew to help me out. They drove to my house and spent a good amount of time fixing the issues. I'm continue to be impressed with the level and quality of customers service so many years after the project ended.

JP Builders worked with us for over a year to build two small buildings on a very steep hill in Mill Valley. We encountered difficult weather and a few other obstacles along the way. My experience with them was as good as it gets. They were professional, respectful, on time, on budget, organized and able to handle last minute changes. Their subs were the same. The site was always clean and well maintained. Grading work was very challenging and it unfolded without any problems. When there were unexpected problems we were always able to find a reasonable solution. I hope you get to work with these guys. They're terrific.
