Mike from Schuman Contracting did an outstanding job on our house renovation. This was a major renovation...knocking out the back wall and expanding the kitchen, adding two rooms to the basement, and adding space upstairs as well. All of this on a 1940's Cape Cod. Mike worked with us throughout the work, was at our place daily, responded immediately, and worked tirelessly to get it done. The workmanship is excellent...Mike even found a way to make the experience fun. Well, as fun as a home reno could be! Happy to talk to anyone who has questions.

We had a wonderful experience with Schuman Contracting LLC. Mike and team fully gutted and rebuilt the original bathroom in our 1928 Wardman, along with some additional smaller projects. Their estimates were accurate, they were easy to work with, quality of craftsmanship is excellent. In addition, they helped solve some unique challenges and even found a way for us to keep and refinish the original cast iron tub without removing it. We are picky and could not be happier. We will definitely be using them for future projects.

We are very happy with our new kitchen done by Schuman Contracting. They gave us everything we asked for on time, and within the budget. And it looks beautiful! They are fine craftsmen and have extensive construction experience. They came up with solutions for any issues that came up. Our kitchen is small and the microwave we purchased was too big for the space. Within two minutes they found one online that not only fit but was much sleeker than the one we originally purchased. We recommend them highly.

Schuman Contracting rehabbed the back of my DC rowhouse, including siding replacement, window/door reframing, and gutter repair. I'm very happy with the work, the crew was very friendly and professional and communicative. The price was fair as far as I could tell - Schuman was the only company of several I talked to that gave me a real estimate rather than a rough guess. I would definitely hire them again for future projects.

My husband and I hired Schuman Contracting to rebuild our exterior porches (3 stories high). They had to completely remove our existing porches. They came up with great design ideas and had to work on our very old house which posed challenges. Their work is excellent. They are very professional and easy to work with. The project took a little longer than expected, but we are very happy with the finished product. I highly recommend them.

Schuman Contracting refinished our basement. It had been flooded so they replaced the floor (with ceramic tile and radiant heat), drywall, painted throughout, expanded a closet for us, and installed 8 sliding doors and 2 traditional doors. They also installed hardwood floor, laid and sanded by them, in our pantry, reframed a kitchen door, carpeted the basement stairs and installed a handrail and bookshelf. Mike Jones and his team are terrific to work with. Mike is responsive, ethical, experienced, and a pleasure to work with. When a door vendor blew a deadline by 6 weeks, Mike's company absorbed the cost of the doors. Mike made excellent referrals to a gutter company and a plumber to ensure we would not experience more flooding. We plan to use Schuman again.

Unbelievable, stunning job accomplishing a 3000sq./ft demolition and renovation of the first floor of historic building. New interior/exterior doors, walls, drop ceiling, custom plywood wall treatments, 2.5 bathrooms, kitchen, and artist's studio. This was all done WITHOUT architect's drawings but was guided only by the owner/artist SketchUp drawings. Totally a creative collaboration between the owners, contractor, and sub-contractors. Imaginative resolutions to unusual artist/owner inspired requirements that blended seamlessly with the skills of the highly skilled and adventurous carpenters via the leadership of the contractor. This was not a typical builders job and the seamlessness of the process and attention to detail made the effort well worth it. This was certainly a project that required exceptional insights and skills that only this contractor could handle. VERY satisfied with the result and recommend Schuman Contracting without hesitiation.

On the recommendation of friends, we hired Mike for a large kitchen renovation project. We had him gut our old kitchen, remove a wall, and remodel the entire space. And we kept adding on projects elsewhere around the house as we were so happy with the quality of his work. We'd done two large renovations to other parts of the house with other contractors, and hadn't had good experiences with them--everything from communication to budget to quality of work. We wish we'd met Mike years ago. The biggest positive for us was that he was on site, doing the work himself (and overseeing any trade subcontractors) for the length of the project. This made for clear communications, even as we added, then removed, then added back items to the scope of the project. Mike was very patient throughout, and gave us good ideas. His initial bid--cost and timeline, was on target. Mike does high-quality work and we are thrilled with our kitchen. We will definitely hire him for our next project and highly recommend him. To boot, he's a really nice person, and we enjoyed our time working with him.
