At Tranquility Builders, we pride ourselves on honesty, integrity and dedication to our clients’ projects. We view each project as a teamwork effort between our clients and us. From the design phase to planning and construction through completion, we are there to assist you with every detail right down to the material selections.
Fill out our “Request for Appointment” online or Call us for your free, in-home design consultation. We will respond to your request within 24 hours. From there, we set up an appointment to discuss your ideas and explore your options. We are here to assist homeowners define their vision and realize their goals. The process starts with our first visit to your home. We will discuss the issues you are trying to address to learn what you are hoping to achieve. We will talk about your wish list and tour the areas in your home you are looking to renovate to identify the project scope. We will show you examples of other home improvement projects we have completed and will walk you through our design/build process to answer all your questions.
We may need to meet with you several times during the planning process as we begin to fine tune the scope of your project. We will then schedule another appointment where we will present you with floor plans and elevations (if applicable) and a detailed proposal for your review and approval.
We promise that all of our materials and workmanship will adhere to the highest standards of excellence. All work shall be completed in a workmanlike manner and according to governing municipalities building code requirements. Tranquility Builders, Inc. does not make any warranty or representation beyond that of the manufacturer as to materials utilized. We stand behind our work for five years after the completion of your project. Issues that come up will be handled promptly and professionally.

We are so happy that we found Tranquility Builders! We recently bought a new home that needed a significant amount of updating and Tranquility has now remodeled the entire first and second floor of our home (including everything from the kitchen and master bathroom to the mudroom and sunroom). From our first meeting with Ryan, we knew that we could genuinely trust the Tranquility team. Ryan brought creative design ideas to the table, as we knew a second floor laundry room was a must-have for us but couldn’t figure out how to squeeze it in. Ryan came up with a great idea that has worked out perfectly and we are so pleased with the outcome. Bev was our general manager and I simply can’t say enough good things about her. It’s apparent from day 1 that the customer experience is of utmost importance to her and I truly appreciated her open communication throughout the remodel process. Tim was our carpenter and he consistently went above and beyond, his woodwork skills are top notch and he is a pleasure to work with. Tranquility allowed me to make our remodel a truly custom experience from the cabinetry right down to the layout of drawer inserts. Their design software brought everything to life before construction started so I was very confident in what the final product would be, which gave me great peace of mind. By the end of the experience the Tranquility team really felt like family and I look forward to working with them again when we tackle the basement!

The entire Tranquility team was wonderful to work with. They remodeled the majority of our first floor, including our kitchen, powder bath, family room, laundry room and stairs. We chose to live in the house during the renovation with 3 small children and they made the whole experience as painless as possible. Elliott was wonderful with communication and let us know each night who would be at the house the next day. All the contractors were very professional, knowledgeable and great to work with. We made several changes/add-ons throughout the project and both Elliott and our designer Caitlyn were patient with us and helpful in making sure we got exactly what we wanted. Overall, we were very happy with our experience and love our new house! We look forward to working with them again for future house projects.

Five Stars - Highly Recommended Tranquility Builders.
Tranquility have redone our last 2 basements and they did an absolutely outstanding job from start to finish. From the initial consultation to the final walkthrough, their professionalism and attention to detail were top-notch.
We love our newest basement - they transformed an unfinished space into a beautiful living space, with multiple rooms (an office, TV room, game room) and they added a bathroom! The quality of the work is excellent - the framing, drywall, electrical, plumbing, etc. were all done with skilled craftsmanship.
Elliot was our project manager and he kept us updated every step of the way and addressed any concerns we had promptly. When we requested a few small design changes partway through, they accommodated us without issue.
We trust Tranquility - we called them about a plumbing issue a few months after the basement was finished and they sent their plumber right out. It's a family business which I like and they delivered a fantastic finished basement at a fair price. We are overwhelmingly satisfied and highly recommend them to anyone considering a basement renovation project. They get an A+ rating from us!

Tranquility was our 3rd and final attempt in securing a contractor for a unique project. We were transforming an above garage storage space into a full blown coach house/condo. Well to say it worked is an understatement. From day one, this dynamic family run team delivered on all points; on time, on budget, creative use of space, excellent project management. Every day I would know what to expect from my point of contract on the job. Never was I left wondering what was happening daily, weekly, etc. The professionalism was above and beyond with everyone they brought into the job. I highly recommend this team. They brought a creative element to the job in addition to great design ideas! Their craftsmanship on the job is phenomenal! If you’re looking for a team to deliver on time, in budget, excellent quality and amazing with communication, look no further.

Outstanding experience renovating the first floor of our home from a old 1970's colonial to a modern, spacious open concept design. Tranquility provides expertise on design, oversees their team of skilled craftspeople and provided daily advice and practical solutions than inevitably arise when renovating an old home. Now that our project is done and we no longer see our project manager daily, we feel like we're missing a member of the family. Our project manager was at our house daily to check on status, plus communicated with us continually regarding who to expect at our house the next day(s) and what time they would arrive. Costs of the project and estimates for work scope changes that we requested along the way were transparent and agreed upon at every juncture. We completed our project on time and are absolutely thrilled with the result! We're looking forward to future projects with Tranquility!

One of the best things we've done was to hire Tranquility Builders to build our add on. The staff of Jim, Caitlyn, Bev & Ryan were informative and wonderful!! Caitlyn did an amazing job designing our space and Jim kept all the trades "running". The electricians, carpenter and plumbers did everything we asked for and more! Tranquility's pricing was more than competitive and if anyone ever needs to have a builder, we would recommend Tranquility Builders!! Thanks again Tranquility for a job superbly done!

Working with Tranquility Builders was a fantastic experience! They remodeled our outdated basement and truly made it a space our family loves. From our first meeting with Ryan, we were very impressed by his creative ideas to maximize our space. We gathered several quotes, and Ryan's ideas and presentation of those ideas far exceeded the vision we were given from other companies. Miranda and Abbi were patient and helpful as we picked out finishes, and we appreciated their attention to detail. From the day our project began, communication was fantastic. Ryan, Jim, and Elliot walked us through what to expect, and the execution was as expected. We appreciated the daily communication with our project manager, Elliot, and his efforts to make this process as smooth as possible. Elliot took great care to ensure that everything was done perfectly and his responsiveness to any questions that we had was greatly appreciated. In the end, they created a space that we never knew was possible, and we appreciate their hard work, communication, and dedication to excellence. We will definitely be calling them back for our next project and have already recommended them to family and friends.

Our experience working with Tranquility Builders was great. The team was always polite and friendly. They listened to our needs and budget concerns. Communication was clear, upgrades and charges were accurate and they were extremely responsive to texts and calls. The design assistant was very helpful guiding us to styles that were updated but not trendy. There are always problems during a construction project, but these guys and their subcontractors were quick to respond and quick to solve any issues throughout the job. The craftsmanship of the cabinets, countertops, and woodworking is excellent and their attention to details was top notch. Their “punch list” was longer than mine! We are extremely happy with the final result of our kitchen, mud room, powder room, stairway and main bath and how it fits into the rest of our home in a way that is beautiful and updated.

Tranquility was great to work with! We had a bathroom that we wanted to expand and several other builders weren't able to look outside the box and find a solution. Working with Ryan on the design and Elliot on the execution, we were able to increase the size of our bathroom, add a skylight and turn it into a spa like experience for our kids and guests. Now we just have to do the same to our master bath!

Covid made us realize we needed to make some changes at our home. Our initial plan was to do a large addition, however, when Ryan from Tranquility came out to meet with us he helped us realize the space we needed already existed! The design Abby and the Tranquility team came up with was great and their estimate was presented very professionally. They were not the cheapest estimate, but their attention to detail far surpassed the other estimates. The cheapest also didnt respond after their initial estimate. The work was done thoroughly, communication was great via daily texting/calling from Elliot and Bev, and even during Covid we managed to keep good progress to completion. We love our home and have rave reviews and comments from guests. Entire home remodel including kitchen, flooring throughout the home, mud room, powder bath, office, master bath, kids' hall bath, and dining room.

Tranquility was phenomenal to work with from
Start to finish. My brother used Tranquillity to remodel his kitchen and after seeing the transformation, I was sold! They are great at what they do: remodeling, design stage, timeliness, etc. They were a part of the remodel from start to finish and we’re always available if we had questions. It was an absolute pleasure to work with Tranquility on our kitchen renovation. From the first time we met Bev, we felt at ease. At our initial meeting, she looked around, took measurements, and went through what we would like for our space. She pointed out a pipe which might be an issue right away, and we appreciated knowing about this from the get go. Meeting with Ryan and Abbi to design the space was so much fun. It was great to see the 3D renderings. I had my heart set on one long island, but Bev and Ryan came and taped out the space to show me how two islands would be better aesthetically and from a working standpoint. I am so glad they were able to change my mind. Bev was also able to talk me off the cliff on a couple small design elements, pointing out that they would not be easy to change out and were very specific to my taste. She was not pushy at all, but her pointing these out changed my mind. Working with Elliott as our general contractor was great. Any issue that came up, he was on it. He kept us updated about what to expect week to week and sent us a text each evening on what would be going on the next day. This was especially helpful because it helped us to plan what to do with our kids and dog. We could not be happier with how our kitchen turned out, and there is not one thing we would change about it. All of the contractors were professional and did beautiful work. They kept us updated on any changes that needed to be made, and there were no surprises. We would highly recommend Tranquility to anyone looking to renovate their home.

Major renovations while living in the chaos can be daunting. From the moment Ryan came to talk over our design ideas, we felt quality and pride in what Tranquility could offer us.
After design with Bev and Ryan, progress began with walls coming down safely and work progressing through Eliott’s project management, the Sean’s muscle and follow-up, Jim’s help in selecting the right stone and outstanding sub-contractors ; everything in these uncertain times kept rolling to completion.
Reno’s aren’t easy, but we always knew Tranquility and their quality work, with friendly and thorough sub-contractors would get the job done. Especially in the middle of COVID-19!
We love our new home and recommend Tranquility for any of your renovation or new builds. They care, as only a family working together can care. Give them a call. You’ll be happy you did!

If you’re looking for a great contractor for any size remodel project I would recommend Tranquility Builders. They transformed our 1st floor living space into an open concept floor plan, expanding our kitchen and making our home flow so much better.

If you are looking to remodel your bathroom, kitchen, etc., look no further. Tranquility Builders exceeded are expectations on our master bathroom/bedroom remodel. They are family owned which makes it so much more personal, especially when everyone is in and out of your house on a daily basis during construction. We never had a worry. Tranquility provided us with professionalism, patience (as I constantly was changing things) and craftsmanship. Our project finished in March 2020. We couldn’t be happier being quarantined in our new remodel!

We had a great experience with the entire Totsch family as they helped do a complete renovation of our master bathroom. They oversaw a complete transformation of the space into a luxurious bathroom that makes us feel like we're living in a hotel.
There were two things I liked best about Tranquility. The first was their communication: Each night, we'd get a text from Elliott outlining what work would take place the next day and when the workers would be arriving. If you've ever worked with a contractor, you know this is not always something that happens. It was really appreciated.
The second was the attention to detail. If anything needed an adjustment or touch-up, Tranquility was happy to see to it. I've never worked with anyone that did a better job of following up on bucket-list items. They weren't happy until we were happy!
We really enjoyed working with Tranquility and hope to do so in the future!

We had an outstanding experience with Tranquility! They were recommended by a friend and we had the opportunity to preview their work. Their price quote was competitive and there was no pressure when choosing among different builders. When we hired them to redo our master bathroom we had high hopes. They did not disappoint. They kept to the proposed schedule and the people they brought in for the different parts of the job all did quality work. In the end, we have a beautiful master bath and it is everything we had hoped for. I would recommend them to others without question.

The Tranquility experience was 5 stars all the way! Bev and Jim were great to work with for the overall planning of our master bath remodel, and along with Elliot, Ryan, Sean and their contractors the job came out great. VERY clean (a major remodel is never "clean", but they did an excellent job of minimizing the dust and disruptions),
They also were quite responsive to our questions, requests and concerns and replied in a timely manner.
We honestly feel like we are "on vacation" every time we use our new bath!

Tranquillity Builders has done everything for me from finishing my basement to complete refinishing of my hardwood floors. They have corrected concrete problems in my garage, installed a whole house, dual zone HVAC, replaced plumbing fixtures, installed exhaust fans in my master bath and have even shown up to replace outdoor exhaust vents in the middle of the day when I struggled to do so by myself. I could not feel more blessed to have happened upon this incredibly professional and reliable family business. I have worked with Bev, Jim and their sons for years now. I will definitely recommend Tranquility for any home improvement job you may be thinking about. To begin with, Bev is very thorough, and honest, with her estimate. She gave us all in's and out's on every choice we had to make. She ensured we made an educated decision about our project every step of the way. Jim is fantastic, he is a pleasure to work with, especially when it comes to stones, granites etc. Last but not least, Elliott, he was the action man for us, to get the job done. He pays attention to detail and does not hesitate to call his people back if any job is not done per our (customer) satisfaction. All in all, its my experience that Tranquility team is very customer oriented and made sure we are happy every step of the way.

We hired Tranquility Builders do an overhaul of our first floor, including the kitchen. We couldn’t be happier with our new kitchen, family room, living room and powered room. We chose Tranquility because they were very personable and provided the most detailed quote of all GCs we met and talked with. Tranquility builders transformed our kitchen and first floor into an end result that exceeded our expectations. We met with several contractors and ultimately chose Tranquility for their attention to detail and creative ideas. Bev came up with fantastic design ideas that really made the best use of our space.
As first time remodelers, we were nervous about the amount of work we were undertaking in a project that would be gutting and rebuilding our kitchen and overall first floor. We made the right choice in using Tranquility. Bev, Jim, or Elliot always timely answered texts and phone calls, which gives you some comfort when your house is in full construction mode. We couldn't be happier with the end result!

My husband and I highly recommend Tranquility Builders. Jim, Bev, and Elliott are not only professional but also extremely knowledgeable. They offered honest guidance and advice to make our entire home remodel just perfect. They were quick to address any of our concerns and came up with wonderful ideas that we would not have thought of on our own. Their entire team was helpful, friendly, and always cleaned up everything at the end of a busy day. We gave them a date we wanted the remodel completed by, and it was finished by that date! The whole experience was a positive one. We are very happy with our "new home" and have received many compliments on how great it looks with the most recent being that it looks "stunning". If any of our family, friends, or co-workers mention a home remodeling project, we quickly tell them to call Jim, Bev, and Elliott at Tranquility Builders!

Jim and Bev are fantastic to work with. Very upfront and very professional. They gave us great ideas and were within our budget for finishing our basement. Very respectful of our home and worked around our busy schedule. A pleasure to work with their company and will definetly be hiring them again for future projects. Came in on time and under budget which is always a plus! Highly recommended

Bev and Jim are great to work with. Had great ideas in regards to our bathroom remodel in our 1896 home. Quality, concern and cleanliness during the work was outstanding. Always available for questions or concerns.

Based on a recommendation from a coworker, my husband and I hired Tranquility Builders to rebuild our house after an unfortunate water accident. They are professional, knowledgeable, and very nice to work with. With their help and expertise we ended up with a beautiful whole house remodel. I would absolutely recommend Tranquility Builders! Bev, Jim, Elliott and every sub contractor that worked on the job were fantastic!

We hired Tranquility to remodel all of our bathrooms - new tile, shower, cabinets, counters - the whole works. They also added two bathrooms, one in the basement and did an amazing conversion from a walk-in closet into a full bath, complete with a dormer and windows. We've known Bev for many years and have referred Tranquility to many of our friends. Trustworthy, responsive and quality work!

Jim and Bev were awesome ! They turned our basement into a bedroom for my mil. They thought of everything- even a few touches that were unexpected. I had a issue recently(not builders fault) and she made sure I got assistance be next morning.
If we need any more remodeling we will use them !. Thanks Bev and Jim - also the workers they use are awesome as well:)

In August 2014, we decided to do a full remodel of our 70s kitchen. We hired Tranquility Builders of Oswego, IL We presented them with our design requirements and they improved upon them. Bev Totsch and her subcontractors were always on time and were respectful of our home. Everything was replaced and remodeled -- walls, ceilings, flooring, cabinetry, and appliances. We were told the project would take about five weeks and it did. The end results were stunning! Everyone who's seen our new kitchen has been very impressed.
We highly recommend Tranquility Builders.
