A few main points any prospective prefab/Connect Homes clients should know: 1-With this system, you are not having an architect that guides you through the process and iron out any issues that may pop up with your site or in the design phase (a lot of them will come up). You are saving a bit of money by not having an architect on the project but the savings on that front is not worth it based on all the time and issues we had to deal with. 2-Not as inexpensive as they want to make it sound, do as much home work as you can on site work to get a full picture of the cost. The additions/changes you make to the base model add up really fast. Install cost on Connect side ends up also being way off from what was originally on their site and quoted in early estimates. 3-Ask to talk to previous clients and listen carefully to their experience. 4-Building a home is a HUGE undertaking do as much planning as you can. Bottom line: For a flat/simple site, close to the factory (and if you stick to pretty close to a base model with little upgrade) then I think Connect Homes may be a good idea otherwise I would for sure not do it again.

Urban door has a huge selection of quality contemporary doors. They're very attentive to details called he and sizing. I've used them on a couple jobs and I've been very pleased with them.

I am updating this review affective January 14, 2018. I stand by everything I wrote previously however, I believe that Connect Homes has changed their business model since the time they built the house for my mother and at present, they are no longer customizing to the degree othey once were. You should check their website and talk with your local representative to be clear on this. I've been told they are staying with the models shown on their website. Again, just wanted to update. The house shown on Connect Homes (CH) Houzz page is mine and that I am finally sending a review is truly remiss. I hired CH back in mid-2013 to build this 1600 SF home in Sonoma, California for my then 87-year-old mother. I was the first smart person to order and own one of their houses....and I will forever be the person who has owned a CH house the longest period of time.. My mom's house ended up on the cover of Dwell Magazine (June of 2014) and you can read my story in detail there. The pictures of the house are stunning. Here's what you can't see from a picture and likely want to know If you're reading this:...how well built is the house, what was the process like of ordering, designing and having the house put into place. First, the house is as solid and well built as any house I have ever owned. It's air tight, sturdy, acoustically sound, well insulated. In the past three years we've experienced gale force winds, scorching heat and biting cold (for California OK). I have no complaints. My mother loves the house. Everyone that's been in it thinks it absolutely exemplary. On to the process. Everyone I have worked with at CH...but especially the architect/owners...are top notch professionals who love what they are doing and are exceptionally devoted to their craft and their clientele. The design process was a easy because communication with CH was so well managed. The biggest problem I had was making MY mind up about what I wanted. Yes, options. You get to dream it up while CH helps you sort through the many multitude of decisions that make a home from the bathroom tile to the door hardware, to the kitchen faucet. Where do you want the windows? How many windows, how many sliding doors? Where do you want the doors? How big do you want the kitchen island? How many closets? CH offered me at least a dozen floor plans to consider. The array of options were substantial and that gave me a very happy experience of creativity. In fact, all design and decision making tasks went very smoothly, again, because CH handled all communication so well. The house arrived 3 weeks later than scheduled but they made up for lost time. MOST IMPORTANTLY...the house came in 100% on budget!!! The bottom line and the thing you really need to know if you are considering hiring ANY builder...prefab or not. We had a little party watching the modules rolled into place....it's an incredible thing to behold. It's emails and contracts and phone calls and texts and then more emails and phone calls and then...a house arrives. And it's exactly what you wanted. OK, maybe better than what you thought possible and that's my excuse for why it's taken me so long to write this review. Too busy just living.

It has been my great pleasure to work with Connect: Homes on two projects. As a huge believer in the potential power of pref-fab, it was an honor to work with Gordon and Jared. Their attention to detail and well -thought out designs, coupled with having their own factory makes them standout in this industry, in my opinion. The caliber and integrity of the projects, coupled with incredible clients makes it a pleasure to collaborate with them. Our first project together made the Dwell cover in June 2014, which was thrilling. It was an existing client of mine which made it exciting to work in a new capacity in pref-fab for this project. Then the next project, was in Texas, and I came in at the beginning being a part of every design step along the way with the client and the Connect:Homes team. I highly recommend them for anyone pursuing pre-fab. I enjoy watching their business grow and look forward to doing more projects with them in the future.

Affordable Sustainable Modern Prefab for Everyone! My husband and I engaged Connect Homes back in May 2014 to begin a custom design process to construct a new modular home on our tiny 25 foot wide urban lot in Santa Monica. We demolished our existing 850 SQ/FT bungalow to be replaced with a 1600 SQ/FT modern engineering marvel with a 400 SQ/FT two car garage! Gordon and Jared worked with us to customize a Connect system that would work on our lot and in our community. We worked with them to infuse our personal taste into a design that allows our family to grow and accommodate the demands of modern living. Our completed home is set to be delivered on site in a couple of weeks and a few weeks after that we should be moving in! With skyrocketing home prices, Connect Homes really allowed us a viable option to stay in our community by saving us money and time on construction. Some of our neighbors have spent up to two years in construction! -- a process Connect Homes was able to cut down to 5 months. We had some special requests for our home, like making the first floor universally accessible for family members with limited mobility, which the Connect Homes team took on as a doable design challenge. They worked with us to guide us through the design process, helped us move through city permitting and secure financing. We had the amazing opportunity to visit the Southern California factory with our modules in construction and have been able to closely follow the on-site prep work of our lot. Connect Homes has transformed the thinking about home construction to be a well designed customized product rather than the messy, wasteful and painstaking process it takes to build a typical stick-built home. We are excited to move in to our new home that was made just for us, on budget, on time and with the highest attention to detail. Connect Homes has got it right. This is the future of home building.

The only affordable way to build a beautiful, modern home in the Bay Area! Connect Homes were a pleasure to deal with from the very start - the founders of the company were very hands-on and guided us through the process at every set of the way. Their pricing is very transparent - the quote they gave us at the beginning was exactly the price we paid upon completion (unheard of in the construction business). It took 3 months from when we gave Connect Homes the go-ahead until the modules were delivered on-site, they installed all 10 modules in a matter of hours and the house was move in ready a few weeks later. The level of finish, the fittings and attention to detail exceeded my expectations by far. My family and I are thrilled to be living in such an amazing dream-come-true house!

We bought a Connect Home 2.1 model in 2013 http://connect-homes.com/dev/connect-2-1/ lived in it on our property while our house was being built and now rent it. The design is simply gorgeous and incredibly functional. While only 640 sq feet - it feels much bigger given the layout and big windows. It felt like we were living inside an Architectural Digest ad. Strongly recommend checking them out.
