I worked closely with Convex's developer Ethan, who is very professional and cares about details. He built my house in Vancouver on time, and dealt with all the headaches that arose so I didn't have to. I would 100% recommend him as your builder. There are a lot of not honest or professional builders out there, and you can easily lose time and money going with them. Choose Ethan to guarantee your success.

It was a pleasure working with Ethan at Convex. We were very nervous at the outset as this was our first time building a house. However, after meeting and working with Ethan we were quickly put at ease. Ethan went above and beyond to answer our questions and address our concerns. He was extremely patient throughout the construction process. Ethan clearly has much experience, as was evident through his ability to problem solve issues that are sure to arise in such a large project. We were extremely happy that despite starting construction at the beginning of Covid, our house and laneway house were finished in twelve months. Ethan worked hard to ensure we were on budget, and amazingly was able to keep us to our budget even though lumber prices were at record highs.Ethan brings a fine design sense, providing numerous design suggestions for colours, lay outs and fixtures throughout the house. A number of friends have complimented us on the design of the interior and exterior of the house, and that praise should go to Ethan as he was so intimately involved in the design process. We are lucky to have found Ethan and would highly recommend Convex to anyone interested in building a home.

We approached Convex Development after running into major delays with our project overseen by another contract company whose scheduling and process was non-transparent. Ethan showed professionalism and great knowledge of the process, and was very involved and communicated transparently on our project from the start. He showed a lot of care and patience in guiding us through this entire process dealing with permit approval with the city, vendor and trades selection to fit our budget and quality requirements, overseeing the work packages and scheduling. The quality of construction met our project expectations. As with all major renovation or construction projects, there are factors that lead to delays outside the scope of Convex's control, trades shortage during busy season, materials delays, cost increases from the budgeting stage compared to when materials and labour are contracted many months after etc. but overall Ethan did a great job to make sure the project is moving along. He has also been very responsive and provided exceptional support when we ran into issues with the storm drain during rainy season, months after we moved into the new house. Ethan returned to the house many times over the span of a few weeks while the plumber and electrician were troubleshooting the issue, and ultimately made sure the issue was fixed. He also has a design background and a great eye for what looks good in a space, and can make suggestions for nice finishing details. His assistant William, is also very responsive, helpful and competent. I would highly recommend Ethan and his team at Convex Development.

I highly recommend Ethan and his team. Ethan is easy to work with, professional and is responsive. He took the time to listen to what we wanted and made appropriate suggestions and recommendations. The trades that he recommended did good work at a reasonable price. We received many compliments from our neighbours, friends and family for the styles and quality of the house. I would definitely contact him for future work and have already recommended him to my relatives who want to renovate their place.

From recommending a terrific architect who listened and truly understood our strong desire for form and function to helping us select the trades, materials and finishes, to dealing with inspections at all stages, to the final cleanup, Ethan and his attentive team at Convex Development, was present and involved in every stage of our new two-car garage and backyard/landscape project. Ethan helped us plan and build two large walk-in closets. The design work maximized the efficiency of the two oddly shaped spaces, the materials are a lot higher quality than we expected for the price, and comparable quotes by other companies came in 2 to 2.5 times higher. We would definitely recommend his company for any projects where one is looking for quality and value and we will definitely be calling him for future work to our house.

We had a bad experience with Ethan. The construction management is a mess, and he is irresponsible. I have attached some picture of landscape at 49 Ave. It is supported to be premium landscape design stated in the contract, and it turn out to be a poorly and unfinished job.

Thank you for your feedback. I take pride in my work and value the reputation of my company. I believe you value my service as well since this is the second home I have built for you. I'm sorry to hear that you are not happy with my service.

When we signed the contract to build your home, you agreed to a payment schedule. Sadly, payments after framing stage were never received on time. I kept our crew and subtrades working hard and at the same time completed additional special requests without you paying for the extra work upfront (as stated in the contract). Payment schedule was revised twice hoping to correct this problem. However, untimely payments still occurred and failed to meet the industry standard. To this date, payments are still owed and are outstanding.

With delayed payments for the subtrades, it was difficult to maintain the planned work schedule. Our team went beyond normal practice of business and handled all the issues professionally. I strived to complete your home and passed all building inspections so your family can move in. When everything is completed, we still have a beautiful house, see below pictures.

In regards to the landscape pictures you posted, the problem can be resolved by regular maintenance and weeding. With proper care, the shrubs in the third picture will thrive in the years to come. As explained, number and type of plants need to correspond to City's approved landscape drawing under a development permit, see link http://vancouver.ca/docs/development/development-checklist-1-family-dwelling-rs-3-rs-3A-rs-5.pdf.

I have tried to avoid conflict with you through countless insults, threats, and personal attacks. I cannot stand by and watch you attempt to discredit me and my company. It not only provides for my family's livelihood but also my employees' and partners'.

Please feel free to contact me to settle the outstanding payments. Also, I am more than happy to recommend some other landscapers if you wish to redo your landscape more to your liking.
