I hired JGB Custom Homes to build my dream house. The journey to build your own custom home is a daunting one and the first time I met Jake he put my mind at ease. Polite and respectful, Jake has a 'can do' attitude that makes problems go away. In addition to the obvious things that top builders must possess like technical ability, great relationships with the best sub contractors, fiscal responsibility and work ethic, Jake is also honest. In my experience, that is not a given. As usually happens, during the course of the teardown in January through the move in and finish in November there were a few bumps in the road provided by the weather, materials and a sub or two, but Jake handled it all like a pro and delivered a top notch execution of the house I dreamed up with my architect. Additionally, after you move in and start to live in the place there can be issues that come up. A new house is a symphony of thousands of pieces working together and from time to time, a few can fail. Jake responds immediately with a plan to rectify the issue, many times personally fixing it himself within 24 hours. I'd have Jake build another house for me and would recommend him to anyone who is considering him.

I worked directly with Jake as he built my custom home. He was a pleasure to work with and an all-around good guy. Jake is responsive, provides good feedback and does a good job communicating the various options with pros and cons when facing key decisions. JGB Custom Homes did a first-rate job renovating our 57 year old home. Jake took the house down to the studs, added a partial second floor, installed all-new everything, and worked with the architect and the Austin Energy Green Building Program to ensure our project received a five-star rating. The house is very comfortable and my family is happy with our updated house! I ran into the city inspector one afternoon and he volunteered that he never has to worry about Jake's work. That was good to hear. As for attention to detail, Jake had no problem making subcontractors redo work that was substandard. During construction Jake would regularly point out details that needed fixing before I even had an opportunity to notice. Renovations are stressful, but Jake's unworried, can-do attitude, and his commitment to customer-satisfaction made the process much easier.
