PB Fine Construction has been the only contractor I've used on my residential projects over the last 20 years. He and his crew are truly the only contractors to whom I can give a set of drawings and be confident that the project will turn out better than I expected. His crew are true craftsmen and don't hesitate to bring up concerns or suggestions regarding details and procedures. I can't say enough about how fortunate I feel to have met him and his crew. PB Fine Construction did an exceptional job to complete construction of a new contemporary modern-design house. This house design presented difficult construction challenges related to protection of numerous close-by and overhanging large trees and incorporation of many one-off architectural elements requiring bespoke framing, masonry, roofing, finish carpentry, electrical and lighting. Paul Balmuth provided calm, optimistic leadership and effective communication with subcontractors to accomplish design demands and overcome unexpected weather issues. Paul completed the entire project with extraordinary quality, including punch list, without issue and within budget guidelines. His management of the construction from rough framing to fine details of sophisticated electrical elements was superlative. And a bonus, he is patient, engaging and humorous .

Paul has done many projects for us. The last project was when our house caught fire in January and had to be completely remodeled. Paul did such a great job keeping everyone on schedule and his quality of work is of the highest caliber. We are an architectural practice in Austin Texas and have been working with PB Construction for the past 15 years. We have always found Paul Balmuth and his team to be highly professional and insightful on all the projects we have worked together on and we would strongly recommend him for both residential and commercial construction projects.

Paul’s team remodeled our 1928 home in 2007/2008. A second story was added, and the interior was gutted and transformed into a masterpiece of beauty. The remodel included a complete kitchen rebuild, new floors, new sheetrock, a new roof, new electrical, and plumbing, to mention some of the larger tasks. What we loved about working with Paul and why we are one of the few who love their contractor: •Great communication: kept us apprised of schedule changes, continuously updated us on progress, had great intuition for when we needed to be asked for input and when it was not necessary •Excellent listener: part of being able to communicate well is the ability to listen. Certainly my wife and I had some ridiculous requests, and Paul listened patiently and explained the pros and cons of what we were asking to be done. I never felt he disregarded our concerns nor that he patronized us in doing what we had requested when he knew it was a bad idea. •Quality: Paul gave us options on which tier of quality was available for materials, and what they cost, and how each decision impacted the budget. We could therefore make informed decisions about where we wanted to use the highest quality material, and where it didn’t matter as much to us. Paul also worked closely with the architect to understand what was intended in the design, and in several instances made recommendations that improved or simplified the design. •Crew: We thoroughly enjoyed working with Paul’s crew. They were respectful and courteous, and they themselves came up with suggestions and recommendations on improving our home •Monitoring: Paul was on site every day to monitor the progress of his own crew as well as the progress and quality of work of the sub-contractors. In at least two cases that I am aware of he had the sub-contractor re-do their work at their cost due to quality issues.

PB Fine Construction managed our renovation while we were out of town and it was perfect. They painted the entire house, ordered and installed all new windows and doors, fixed and designed a new fireplace and mantle, built custom bookshelves and refinished our floors. There are a lot of details in a job such as this one, and we found ourselves to be in great hands with PB Construction. I would recommend Paul and his team with upmost confidence.

My company has worked as a sub-contractor for Paul for twenty some odd years. He commands excellence by example and has a great eye for detail, however each project whether it be a remodel or ground up construction must merit his approval. If ask I have in the past happily referred Paul to take the reins of a remodel or new house construction when ask for a referral from my clients looking for a high end house builder. Very good team, bathroom and kitchen renovations. Bathrooms were re-tiled and cabinetry replaced; kitchen was renovated, complete demo and rebuild. Installed stranded bamboo flooring, redid plumbing (toilets included). Recessed lighting installation. Workers are very clean and removed all trash daily during demolition; trustworthily crew; conscientious and reasonable. Workers are punctual, helpful and have a great attitude which makes the difference in every aspect of the job.
