Rob Burrington (VDC Builders Inc.) is an amazing builder and General Contractor, he has an a very extensive list of wide ranging projects that go back over 20 years. My project was a 32 by 15 feet addition to the side of my house for the purpose of an art room studio, a laundry room and a shop space. I had already visualized exactly what I wanted and had sketched out some rough plans. Rob took those plans and refined them and had engineering blue prints made. The design phase went smoothly as we hashed out various changes needed for code requirements, and a realistic cost estimates. Rob is extremely knowledgeable of building techniques and all the local building codes, so in most cases he could say straight away off the top of his head if something I wanted could be done or not. He handled getting all the permits. Rob gave a very detailed estimate of the project costs, schedule and the sub-contractors he would be using. Rob’s practice of passing the sub-contractors bills directly to me, to be paid by me directly was a nice way for me to see exactly where my money was going and for what. My projected started in the beginning of June, and Rob was there at the beginning of every work day to make sure sub-contractor knew exactly what needed to get done. Rob has had a long working relationship with pretty much all the sub-contractors, and they were all really skilled and very experienced in their specific trade. Everything was done right the first time, and nothing needed to be redone. Vancouver city inspectors passed all phases with only a couple minor changes requested throughout the whole project. By about the first week in August my addition was done and ready for me to do some finish work. Rob was flexible and accommodating in letting me do some finish work myself which allowed me to save a little on the final project cost. The project went very smoothy, there was almost no down time in the 2 month project. Nearly every work day some big change got added to the project, which was a nice feeling. I tracked the total cost of the project very closely in a spreadsheet, and final cost was very close to what Rob original estimate was done back at design phase. The final cost was about 8% over budget, and I can pretty closely match that 8% to places where I asked sub-contractor for something extra, such as additional wall outlets/switches and adding a decorative pattern to the patio walk-way cement. Rob is very professional and skilled at what he does. Very honest, does what he says he will do, shows up on time when he says he will. He's very good at making sure you know what is happening, and that there will be no bad surprises. My wife and I are very happy with our new addition, and happy that we chose Rob and VDC Builders to build it.

Over the past 10 years I have had three home improvement projects completed by VDC Builders. Rob Burrington is fantastic to work with. He is extremely skilled, an excellent communicator, very hands on, and his subcontractors have all been top notch too. My house is always going to be a work in progress, so I’m grateful to have found Rob and VDC Builders.

This was the second time we hired RR Custom Contracting- which I think speaks for itself. We hired RR to install new windows and new siding on our home for this project (previously, RR completed a full front-of-house porch rebuild). RR removed our old windows and installed new windows within a day. Then they sided the house within a week. When there was an issue, they were very responsive and prompt to fix it to our satisfaction. Rob's communication is prompt and continuous throughout the project, which is much appreciated. Rob also has a great sense of how best to tackle challenges that an old house can throw at you. We appreciate RR's expertise and expedient service, as well as their clean up once the job was complete. If we have another large project to tackle, we would definitely hire RR again.

Rob and his crew did an amazing job building us an outdoor living area complete with fireplace, built in BBQ, fridge, sky lights, etc. It was a huge job and we were so impressed with his continued support and on sight supervision throughout the project. The best part is having people over to enjoy the area and everyone admiring how fabulous the work is! We would highly recommend Rob and crew for any projects and hope to use him again in the very near future

We had a great experience with RR Custom at our former house, so we didn’t think twice when we decided to buy and gut a house but to hire Rob and RR Custom. It was a decision we don’t regret. We bought a 1962 home that hadn’t been touched since it was built but was sitting in the exact location we wanted. Rob worked with me to change the floor plan to make it open and fit our family’s needs and then demo began down to the studs with walls being removed. We installed an HVAC system (was baseboard), new windows, new plumbing, new electrical kitchen, baths etc. Rob had great sub-contractors and when there was an issue he resolved it quickly. We have now lived in our “new” old home for two years. We had a few issues and Rob was quick to fix. Highly recommend!

Rob did two remodels for us. First was the complete remodel of the house except the laundry and guest bath. That took three months while we rented a place. We were so pleased that we had him come back to do the laundry and guest bath. We were able to stay in the house while Rob worked around our schedule. Both remodels turned out wonderful. Rob is very knowledgeable and has an easy/encouraging way of guiding you in the direction needed to fulfill your vision for your house. He is organized and keeps any subcontractors on schedule. You always know what the next steps are and time frames. And he rarely missed them. No remodel ever goes perfect. But if a contractor or materials were not available, Rob was able to shift steps around and keep things moving. Both remodels came in on time! We loved that Rob was there virtually every day, making sure that work was being done properly and informing us of the progress. As work progresses, you sometimes see things that you would like to change or add. Rob handled these with ease. And still came in on time. We liked Rob’s work and his people so much that we recommended him to our daughter. He did some work on her home with same great results. If you are looking for a professional contractor with a great attitude and easy to work with, we would highly recommend Rob and his team.

When we moved from California four years ago we bought a one bedroom old house. Thinking of just adding on we started searching for contractors and builders. After getting several bids and talking to several builders we decided on Rob Burrington. It was a great choice! We liked his honesty and professionalism. He is a down to earth person and very easy to talk to. We told him what we wanted and he worked with us making sure we stayed within budget. In the end we ended up demolishing and building a beautiful home! Rob and his team did an absolutely beautiful job! I love my kitchen and my walk in pantry! The house has a lot of windows creating an open, airy and bright living space which Rob helped design. Rob is a very easy person to work with, always available when you need him. I just can’t emphasize enough how lucky we were to have picked him for the job. Although I’m attaching some pictures they don’t do justice to the teal job:)

I can't say enough great things about Rob and his crew! We had a very large remodel project that included multiple revisions and changes of scope. As this was my first major house project I was pretty nervous about who I hired, very glad I went with Rob. They transformed our old 1940's farmhouse completely! It is exactly how I envisioned and I am thrilled. He replaced all the original windows, took off three layers of siding (asbestos, lead and vinyl! Wow) installed new siding, he added 2 bathrooms and remodeled another completely, new trim work, complete house plumbing redo, added a deck with a spiral staircase... I think the list could go on but I'll spare you the boring details. The main takeaways are he was on time and patient with 6 quote revisions! He came under his quote on just about every line item and he communicated well. His bids are very competitive and he allows his customers to pay subcontractors directly which is a HUGE cost savings. Everyone who came on site was respectful and most importantly clean! I would hire him again in a heart beat and he was a pleasure to work with.

My project entailed adding a 225 sf addition onto my 1920 farmhouse. Rob and his team seamlessly tied the addition in with the existing structure. Rob was very communicative during the entire process, there were no surprises and the project came in on time and on budget. I especially appreciated that Rob was able to incorporate some very special custom pieces into the addition including resizing and hanging three sets of salvaged french doors from New Orleans. Rob was able to turn my vision into reality, I couldn’t be happier with the final product.

RR Custom Contracting did a wonderful job remodeling our whole house. Our kitchen and master bath are especially incredible. All of the workers were very friendly and respectful and did a good job of cleaning up after themselves. I wish we had more house to improve on because we would definitely use RR again!! I highly recommend this company.

Rob has been excellent throughout the entire process. Outstanding communication and work ethic. Detailed bid with no surprises on price. All cost overruns were due to our choices of adding/changing the plan along the way. Subs used have been consistent, fair priced, and with high quality work. When unexpected issues and delays arose (Covid, weather, parts, etc) Rob was always on top of things and kept the project moving to the best extent possible. We started the project with an idea of what we wanted and Rob helped us make good decisions along the way (and advised us against some poor ideas we had)! End result is exactly what we wanted with very high quality work. Will hire again with no hesitation in the future and recommend to anyone looking for a reliable, professional contractor.
