I worked with Kathy mainly to pick out finishes and colors for my home remodel. She has an amazing eye, is excellent with colors, and I couldn't be happier with her work. She listens very well and is conscious of budget and deadlines. My finished home reflects my personality but it also has that extra level of professional design.

A furniture designer and craftsman with forty years of experience, I have many projects under my belt. Working with Artdecor on multiple jobs over many years has always been a particular pleasure. Kathy Farley is a joy to work with! Over several years I worked with Kathy on projects large and small. Large projects included whole-house remodeling, lighting and painting strategies. Small projects included helping to hang art and arrange furniture for a new living space. Without a doubt I have, with each project, felt that working with Kathy made all the difference! The couple to few hours spent laying the design and color foundation made projects unified, more cost effective and fun! as much of the stress and guess work were eliminated. Working with ArtDecor was really great. I had the chance to photograph and feature one of their residential projects for a My Houzz story, and the home had the nicest kitchen I have ever seen. Hands down. I loved the layout and the colors were unusual but perfect. No wonder it has appeared in numerous publications and on the cover of a Sunset book on kitchen design! We have worked with Kathy Farley from Artdecor for over 15 years. She has been a trusted partner helping us find beautiful solutions for furniture selections, color choices and many other challenging design issues. Our 100 year old shingle bungalow in Berkeley has seen large additions, remodeling, and redecoration as our family has evolved. I have hired Kathy Farley for several different projects over the past three years. Not only does she have a wonderful sense of style and color (she suggested a wild and wonderful shade of green for our front door that I never would've considered-- even the postal carrier comments that it's marvelous!) she is thorough, detail oriented and has a strong loyalty to her clients. She transformed our living room from an underused, overstuffed space into a place where my teenage kids and I actually hang out and talk and play music together. She did this while respecting my tastes and budget, and had the entire thing installed while my husband were away during the holidays. We came home and everything was perfect, from the custom cabinetry she had made for us to the refinished floor. She even hung a series of photographs, pictures and artwork we already had in a beautiful collection that looks perfect over the piano. We were so pleased with her work, we hired her for several other projects over the years. One example of her dilligence and loyalty: we had installed carpet in a room that got a lot of direct sunlight, and after a few months, the carpet appeared to be shedding excessively, breaking down. She worked with us every step of the way, even fighting the installer and manufacturer on our behalf until things were resolved to our satisfaction. Working with Kathy is a pleasure- I've discovered new palates and styles I never knew I liked, and she's taken the hassle out of logistics coordination (she had all furniture for our weekend home delivered bit by bit to a central location, then had everything installed in our home at once.) She stands behind her work, she knows the ins and outs of the higher end design world as well as Restoration Hardware and lower-priced places. One hidden gem in her toolkit is that Kathy knows lots of wonderful local craftspeople and tradespeople who make sofas, tables, cushions, etc- all for less than we expected with custom results. We had the opportunity to meet with a second generation furniture maker in his workshop, choose stitching and fabric, sit on frames, make adjustments to our individual needs. I can't recommend her highly enough. Her rates are reasonable and her service is first class.

I turned to Kathy Farley of ArtDecor for a complete redesign of my kitchen and laundry area, down to the studs and starting over again. She was highly adaptable, able to prepare a layout for standard IKEA cabinets and also design a large custom cabinet for display of art glass and storage of cookbooks. When we think of design, we tend to focus on aesthetics, but just as important are the practicalities. Kathy provided expert knowledge of materials and regulations, for instance, the code requirements for energy efficient lighting, all the while keeping in mind how I would actually make use of the kitchen. As I told Kathy at the beginning, I’m fussy about colors, so I was glad to have the benefit of her color selection skills and advice. My new kitchen and laundry are gorgeous… filled with light and color, and eminently functional. Try Kathy, and you’ll be very happy with the results!

I hired Kathy Farley to help me with a kitchen renovation, and as a color consultant for the exterior of my house. The kitchen project included choice of cabinets, wall colors and the challenge of tying it all together, since I had already purchased the counter top and appliances. Kathy was a pleasure to work with for her professional knowledge and her warm personality. She has a wonderful sense for color, and a great eye for detail and aesthetics. I particularly valued her ability to listen to my ideas, and incorporate my likes, while artfully guiding me in the right direction. Kathy was dependable, responsive, very efficient with the use of our time, very fair with her rates, and had wonderful energy that made the stressful decision making so much easier. The exterior of the house was challenging due to the shingles and lack of architectural details. I think it turned out great. I might add that I changed my mind several times, regarding the colors, and Kathy remained patient. I would definitely work with her on future projects, and confidently recommend her.

Kathy has helped us choose colors for both the interior and exterior of our house. The wonderful colors have added so much to the beauty of our home. She has also helped us choose furniture and fabric for many of the rooms in our house. She designed our fantastic new kitchen including materials and colors. Not only is the kitchen aesthetically pleasing but it is wonderfully functional. Kathy is direct, down to earth and easy to work with. She is mindful of one's budget.
