Interior Squeeze

A space inspires feelings. As an interior designer, I hope people use words like beautiful, peaceful, tasteful, balanced, and tranquil when describing the spaces I design. Those are words I love to hear and inspire me to do my best work. Little did I know another word, one that broke my heart, would inspire me to begin my journey as a professional interior designer. This word taught me the power of harmonious interior design, which has since inspired me to bring my design expertise to you. That word was cancer. Years ago, when my daughter Blair was diagnosed with cancer, nothing could have prepared me for that moment. Cancer shattered my world and created chaos and turmoil. During the initial shock and years of her cancer treatment and survival, I sought out peace and serenity fiercely. I realized I had to create it. During my years dealing with my daughter’s cancer, having a home that provided peace, harmony and clarity helped ease the pain I held in my heart. My home truly helped me understand the real impact professional interior design can have on a person’s life. Knowing that profound impact, I felt inspired to recreate this feeling for others. With thoughtful interior design, you should feel the calm, the excitement, the intensity or ease of every space. It should be a reflection of your identity and what nourishes you. When a home is cluttered with mismatched colors, an unorganized layout or too many things, we feel overwhelmed. A home should be a haven from the outside world. I seek to transform the chaos in all of our lives into order within the realm of interior design. A well-organized, tasteful and coordinated space offers the tranquility that we need to face the world in which we live. I aspire to use my interior design expertise to create a beautiful sanctuary for you. I draw from my experience with my daughter’s illness often when I am designing a space. I focus on descriptive words and inspirational details, remaining mindful of the way you live your life, then translate your intentions into my design. For me, designing an orderly and inviting space with colors and patterns that speak to you is what I love most. I understand that everyone has different needs and visions going into a project. Those needs stem from their personal journey. My job is to compose a space that emanates the feeling that you are trying to create. In the end, I did not choose interior design as my profession;interior design chose me.
