My wife and I purchased our apartment with the intention of gutting the kitchen and dining room to convert closed, separate areas into a single open space. As we prepared to start the project, we decided to work with Jonathan; my wife had already worked with him through her business and he had done great work. Working with Jonathan was a great experience throughout the entire project. He was consistently on top of everything that needed to be done, he kept each subcontractor on schedule and on budget, did a great job dealing with the bureaucracy of a New York City coop, and he achieved exactly what we were looking to get out of this project. Amazingly, we moved back into our apartment nearly three weeks before our target completion date, and we did it without going over budget! Renovating an apartment in NYC is a huge headache with numerous surprises, but Jonathan did a great job navigating us through the project and ensuring we'd be thrilled with the final product.

I engaged Jonathan several months ago after closing on an coop in the West Village. The apartment had already been somewhat renovated but needed to be spruced up and to be personalized to my aesthetic and lifestyle. I needed to be sure that the designer I retained would be willing to both project manage the various trades and guide me with the layout and purchasing of furnishings and artworks. Jonathan was both patient and resourceful. I found the whole experience to be enriching and educational. Jonathan not only helped in the selection of furniture and fabrics but also was so well versed as he also guided me in the purchasing, framing and hanging of my existing art collection and in acquiring new pieces. The whole experience was seamless and exceeded my expectations. I highly recommend Jonathan if you are wanting to hire someone who oversees all aspects of your project and also bringing it in on budget, on time and better than you had ever hoped for. My husband and I have worked with Jonathan Ringel on several locations over the last 25 years. We initially hired him to renovate the kitchen living dining area of our NYC apartment in 1989. It was a great experience; he transformed our apartment; his design ideas went beyond what I was seeking and were in fact much better. And beyond the design stage he closely supervised the construction. In 2006 we hired him to renovate our bathrooms, master bedroom and home office. I LOVE them. And in 2006 he renovated a smaller apartment across the hallway from us to use as a guest suite. The date and financial information shown below is for his most recent project with us. We have recommended him to friends and acquaintances, who have used his services and been pleased.

Jonathan designed and oversaw the gut renovation of our two bathrooms. His eye for color, design and architecture is superb. We have a rather more traditional taste and he did an excellent job with recommending the tiles, the marble floors and all accessories in keeping with our taste and life-style. He was able to increase the height of the ceiling which greatly expanded visually the size of the room. He managed the entire project from start to finish, staying within budget and never wavered in his attention to detail and to getting everything just right. The contractor clearly respected his judgement and ideas, as in any project, there are many surprises which he handled beautifully and always with in our best interest in mind. He also oversaw the painting of our two bedrooms while we were on vacation and handle mini-crises with great professionalism and tact. Because he did such an excellent job, I also had him oversee the renovation of our common hallway which again, he was able to create an elegant and simple space in an area that has different ceiling heights, many doors and a narrow corridor. I would highly, highly recommend Jonathan for any project. He is a complete gentleman with exceptional talent.

I hired Jonathan to give my 2000 sqft office space a much needed facelift. The project included items such as soundproofing in offices, building a conference room, server room, dropping electric lines under the cement floors and up inside walls, painting throughout, installing new wood flooring, carpeting offices and installing a new kitchen/kitchenette. I think with all that we had set out to do, and all the moving parts, in addition to keeping my office staff working, I would not have been able to manage without Jonathan. Not only this but he made the process so easy and painless for me. I would even say that it was enjoyable because Jonathan was able to give me the confidence I needed in his standard and ethic of work that I was able to leave him to manage what we had discussed and I was able to contribute in the fun part (picking countertop colors, paint selection, etc). Jonathan has a very hands-on approach which was part of the reason I was able to step back so easily. He also made each step of the process from discovery through office schematics and furniture selection easy for me as he had done all the legwork pulling together options. It was very clear to me that Jonathan loves his profession and has been doing it a long time because the most seemingly fringe question is quickly and joyfully answered by him. One of my concerns with the project was that we were on an extremely tight timeline as we were trying to keep all staff working during the renovation. I was pleasantly surprised that everything stayed on time, despite a few unanticipated changes. Dont tell Jonathan this, but in retrospect, I would have paid him more - for the peace of mind he gave me. In my estimation, he went above and beyond. I would highly recommend his company.

Shortly after buying a small mid century home , I began working with Jonathan on its interior design. The project was a delight from beginning to end. I love the result and it came in on time and on budget. Jonathan spent a lot of time at the outset getting a sense of my own style and preferences. He does not have a "look" which he imposes on clients, but rather with sensitivity elevates your own taste to another level. Consequently, my home does not look "done". If you retain Jonathan, he is who you get, not an assistant. He brings an architect's eye to his designs and his execution is flawless. There were a couple of details that I was perfectly satisfied with; he was not and changed them at his own expense. Jonathan is smart, talented, and importantly has a nice sense of humor.

Jonathan approaches interior design as a fascinating puzzle to solve. He takes you through the process with great personal spirit -- listening and respecting your needs, while applying his artistic ideas, practical knowledge and expertise to get the job done. Jonathan helped me with two office spaces -- one a triplex with one room on each floor, the other a one-room office. In both cases he worked out the most efficient use of the space while also creating a comfortable, pleasant work environment. I never stop thanking Jonathan because I know I never could have done it without him.

Simply said, without Jonathan this project would not have happened! He completed all the necessary permit and board approval paperwork. (Daunting!) He took us to kitchen design stores, granite yards, appliance stores and more. (Not being from NYC, we had no idea where to go.) He orchestrated the project timeline and made sure the builder kept to it. (Amazing, right?) He has a keen eye for detail and guided us toward excellent renovation decisions. (No shoddy workmanship for this guy!) Besides all that, he has a charming personality, is a good listener, and works hard to get his clients exactly what they want even if they don't know what that is at the time!!! (Great intuition!) We were delighted with our renovation and without hesitation, we highly recommend his services to others.

I've hired Jonathan Ringel Studios three times now: to renovate my home, and to renovate my office--twice! My home renovation (a pre-war 2 bed, 2 bath apartment) involved room layout and design, custom furniture design--including built-in cabinetry--and kitchen and bathroom renovation. My office renovations included layout and design, general contracting and project management. Large-scale renovations are often difficult to manage given the number of different trades that are involved. Effective project management is essential to close up potential gaps among the work streams of the different trades. Knowledge and experience are essential to solutions that are successful both aesthetically and functionally. Jonathan Ringel Studios exceeds expectations on all fronts.

Jonathan designed and contracted a major renovation of our living room and open kitchen in our NYC apartment. He guided our selections of granite, appliances and cabinetry to give us exactly what we were looking for. Most importantly it came in on the stated six week time frame and on budget--no surprises. Our neighbors who have renovated are amazed at how efficient our process was compared with their own miserable and time consuming experiences. We wouldn't say this was the cheapest. But as our neighbors have found out, you never get more than you pay for. It was certainly worth every penny to do the project properly and get on with our lives as quickly as we were able to!
