Pamela has been an irreplaceable asset in our home decorating projects. Not only does she have an exceptionally keen artistic design eye, but she is able to think and plan for spacial relationships, room use cases, and all sorts of potential opportunities or issues to avoid that we'd never have thought of. When she works with us you can actually visualize along with her the potential of a room as a whole, and how it fits into the look & feel of the space overall. We started with a blank slate - albeit a very challenging one, architecturally speaking - tons of wood and stone, not a right angle to be found in the house. Pamela helped us divide and prioritize our projects so we could make progress while still keeping the whole house interior design in mind. Even spending an hour rearranging the furniture we already had on her first home visit to open up the flow of the house made a huge difference in the feel. She has gotten to know our house as well as we do now. And, hands down, she is a genius when it comes to fabrics, textures, and colors! The photo below is a "before" from one of her early visits showing us all the options and directions we could go. For us, the process is as important as the end result. She is not the typical designer we had experienced previously that would whip up a floor plan and point you to the most expensive options - she genuinely takes your priorities and desires to heart and crafts a comprehensive approach that has ultimately saved us from overspending. We truly love the spaces she is helping us create so far and are excited to continue working with her on the rest of the house!

Pamela Shadid is a genius at taking what you already own and putting it together in a different (miraculous!) way to make it look like a million bucks. She can also take you into the most expensive showrooms in DC, New York, etc and be perfectly comfortable curating from the highest-end furniture and fabric lines to make your space gorgeous, but any good designer can do that. Whether your price point is Restoration Hardware or Holly Hunt, she will work with you to achieve a space you love. Pamela is so creative that she actually invented and trademarked a process called Luminosity, which is a proprietary technique of applying a specific type of beautiful finish that imparts a unique shimmering quality (to walls, furnishings, and and recently to lucite console that was featured in the Washington, DC 2016 Design Showhouse). She is also a master in the use of color; think Miles Redd. She can do neutrals too, but again most designers have mastered that. I think it is unique for a designer to be comfortable using bold colors. Finally, in addition to her being able to combine your own treasured objects in the most stunning compositions, Pamela always defers to your own taste and style, never imposing her own.

Our project with Pamela started with a simple consultation on wall color for our condo. As we listened to Pamela, we quickly realized how gifted she was in seeing color, proportion and design in ways we could never imagine. After our consultation we begged her to find time to help us reinvigorate our condo. Pamela carefully listened to what we thought we wanted and instinctively knew what to recommend. Pamela respected our esthetic, but did not hesitate to recommend other options that we loved. She worked with our furniture, art and lighting to craft a more pleasing, inspired and creative space. Her finale was turning our tiny powder room into a magical and awe-inspiring creation with her wondrous luminosity. This tiny space is now the fun-loving, playful center of the house. The way Pamela works with her unique luminosity creation is hard to capture in words. The multiple artistically applied thin layers of luminous color resulted in walls that change in subtle and elusive ways every time we enter, or even glance, in the room. It is a fully immersive experience—all sides envelop you with their explosion of energy, power, mischief and sensuality. Her artistry enlivens, yet also calms and centers—all at once. It is true magic.

I have been fortunate to work with Pamela Shadid close to a decade now, both on her residence and those of some of her clients! Pamela has always displayed a wonderful balance of imagination and an understanding of space and the elements within.
