Sunscape Gardens

Ernesto Ramirez of Sunscape Gardens Design, (ejrsunscapes@gmail.com, 650-465-4131 ), was one of two contractors who bid on a number of intermediate designs we had through several iterations of finalizing what we finally had built. His company has been working on the San Francisco Peninsula for over 25 years. We did not want to have several independent contractors, but wanted a single contact point. The plans were drawn by Dirk Moyer (dirk@jennabayer.com) Ernesto laid out the garden walls, French drains, patterned two tone pavers, built a fire pit and sitting area, steps to connect terraces, lights under each step and all the details needed without disturbing the fairly extensive existing plantings. The workers were thoughtful, polite, worked every day (rain or shine), minimized dust and disruptions, cleaned up, and watered existing plants before they left. As they progressed through the job Ernesto was onsite each morning and was always available to discuss plans and questions to be answered. The entire crew got along very well, they were neat and orderly and they arrived and left at the same time daily. Ernesto made sure to explain what was happening and what was going to be next, when there were questions he worked seamlessly with Dirk to get resolution on changes and plans. There were two of the original modifications that we agreed to modify - in both cases Ernesto made the bid for the changes clearly and in writing and in the context of the entire job. We knew what was going to happen and when it would be finished. With the adjustment for the changes, the job started and finished on time and exactly on budget. It did cost more than we originally planned, but there were no surprises.
