About Us

Mill Design and Blinds was originally opened as the Wallpaper Warehouse in 1987, by husband and wife team, Rick and Cindi Silverman, in an old, refurbished Mill in North Chelmsford, MA. While the initial focus was on designer wallcoverings and custom window treatments, client demand prompted us to gradually take on the additional product lines of Hunter Douglas Window Fashions, and design services for both residential and commercial spaces. After an incredible 35 years, it’s time for the next generation husband and wife team, Robert and Jessica Silverman, to take the helm and lead us in a new direction as a shop at home service. Doing it all as president, lead salesman and installer, Rob is continuing the tradition of delivering our customers quality products and superior service in the comfort of your home or office. With a new location in Westford, MA, we look forward to many more years of serving our community. If you want to make your house a home, look no further than Mill Design Center. A family owned business built on an interest in providing the best possible solution for their clients. Their showroom is located in an historic mill building and it is amazing. We were customers for window treatments. We thought a shade was a shade - not so! Cindi not only took an interest in what we said we were looking for but wanted to know if we had specific issues related to our windows- too much sun, not enough sun, views, no views- was it a window that we wanted to upscale? Her time and attention helped us to make an informed decision on our product choice. They measured our windows and installed our shades flawlessly. As a bonus Mill Design is a Hunter Douglas dealer and can provide warranties on Hunter Douglas products. Cindi and Rick also told us on how we could receive a tax credit with our new shades. A wonderful experience. Soon we will be going back for tiles and rugs. I would give them 10 stars if there were an option to do so.

We had Mill Design Center do all the window treatments when we purchased our new home in Acton in 2003. By 2016, it was time to update the family room and I had Cindi from Mill Design come over to help with selection of color and materials for carpet, paint and window treatments. I was very happy with the process from beginning to end. they were very helpful and accommodating of our hectic schedule and unique timing requirements.

From previous projects shown on Houzz.com, I hired Mill Design Center at Wallpaper Warehouse to install Hunter Douglas window shades on about 25 windows in a two-family, 100+ year-old farmhouse. Rick Silverman and staff were knowledgeable, professional, very clean, and most importantly patient. This project was not without its hassles as many of the inside window frames were uneven, not square, or had old screws installed in the jams preventing the shades from opening/closing smoothly. Rick and staff returned multiple times until the window treatments fit as desired. I would consider hiring Mill Design Center at Wallpaper Warehouse again for hardwood floors and wallpaper installations.

The Mill Design Center installed a new floor in my kitchen, and I love it. The installers were very professional and did a great job. The whole experience from choosing the floor to prepping the subfloor to installing the final product was smooth and hassle-free. I would recommend the Mill Design Center and their team to anyone.
