Shawn, Austin and the Sweeney Design team are professional, fun and exciting to work with. It is wonderful to have the support of a high quality design team when undertaking a first time renovation. From the get go their ability to listen and customize our wish list into drawings and designs and then revisit modifications with improvements to continue to better the vision was an enjoyable process and experience. The flow from design to build was extremely fluid. The contracting team was amazing. The daily work ethic, attention to detail and pride they put into our house is something we continue to experience even months after the renovation completed. As well, the subcontractors and supply/design stores that collaborate up with Sweeney Design are top notch and very inclusive, and friendly to work with. We absolutely loved working with Sweeney Designbuild. They listened to our dreams and made them a reality. Extremely professional from beginning to end From the designing of the space, taking the time to understanding what we were looking for, giving us options before starting, picking out the appliances, cabinet handles, etc. We appreciated the respect of our budget and discussing change costs prior to making changes so that there were no surprises. Lastly- the crew on site were amazing. When living through the remodel we got to know the crew and they were incredibly respectful of us and our home! Thank you!!

Sweeney Designbuild was a pleasure to work with. They took time to really listen to our wishes, and guided us with recommendations and insight that far exceeded our expectations. They kept the charm of our older house while adding new materials in a way that feels like a perfect match. An extensive renovation project that was done extremely well. The design process was smooth and well thought out. The renovations were well coordinated with the many sub contractors required, and the carpentry work was masterful. Communication throughout the project, including during the early months of the pandemic, was always strong; this included weekly meetings that ensured the project was proceeding according to the plan that was updated or adjusted if desired. Kevin, the lead carpenter on our project, was exceptional both in his work and as a person.

Exceptional! We hired Sweeney Designbuild knowing that the work they do is outstanding. We purchased our home in 2017 and were moving to Vermont from out of state. Our house had had the entire basement finished by Sweeney Designbuild prior to us owning the home and it was done beautifully. It’s actually one of the main reasons we bought the house. After living in the house for about a year, we came up with a long list of things that needed to be updated which included: the master bathroom, the kids bathroom, the main floor powder room, the mudroom, the kitchen countertops and breakfast area. Plus, an entire interior house painting. Since we were new to Vermont, we didn’t really know a lot about different contractors in the area. But we did know that the quality of the work that was done in the basement was what we wanted throughout the rest of house. We reached out to Shawn and he was immediately responsive. He came to our house not long after our phone conversation and we discussed the scope of the project and the process they use for renovations. Shawn was extremely personable and organized. There was no question as to who we wanted to have work on our home. As the process of the renovation began we were meeting more and more of the people who worked at Sweeney Designbuild. Austin did all of the design plans, so we were able to see how things would look when the project was finished. He was fantastic with knowing where things should be placed for ease of use while also making sure each space was beautiful. My husband and I had added on a few things during the planning phase and Austin was fantastic about modifying and adding to the design plans. Once demolition began, I had the pleasure of meeting Dave, Kyle, Rob, John and Stephen. I cannot even begin to tell you how neat, professional and talented these group of men are. From prepping the house to protect what was not being touched, and to keep it as clean as possible during a renovation, to the last of the finishing touches, they were outstanding. These are true craftsmen, who not only do beautiful work but care about making your home into what you want it to be. We were never concerned with the quality of the work or worried about if someone was going to show up. They are all true professionals who are extremely respectful and just nice people. We appreciate everything that was done at our house. Shawn and the entire group at Sweeney Designbuild went above and beyond our expectations and we cannot thank them enough for making our house into a beautiful home.

We hired Sweeney DesignBuild for the complete design and construction of our new home. Shawn and his whole company were always professional and courteous. The design process was collaborative. Shawn and his team worked closely with us, listened carefully and suggested enhancements through the whole design and construction process. We have built 4 homes and this house is our best built home. It has not had a single issue in nearly 5 years. We lived in Maryland during the design and build process and Shawn was always easy to work with. We had weekly phone calls or skype meetings from his office or from the site. We are now adding a room over our garage and a second standalone garage and will be working with Shawn through the whole process. We highly recommend Sweeney DesignBuild to everyone.

Working with Shawn Sweeney and his team was one of the best experiences I have ever had! From taking my vision with scraps of magazine clips and pen and ink renderings of "general concepts", Shawn and his team worked with me to design and build a home that was even better than I imagined. Shawn was well organized and kept the project moving forward, providing me with direction about making decisions along the way. I felt guided and never pressured. Shawn and I worked closely to keep within my budget. He and his team were professional and warm. He, Dave and Austin made me feel as if I was their only client and only project. I recommend Sweeney Designbuild highly! I am now considering a guest house on the land and Shawn and his team will be my first call when it comes time to design and build it.

We have worked with Sweeney Designbuild for projects big and small. Their work is beautiful and of the highest quality. They have helped us with small design projects, with paint color selection, and they are always right with their ideas! Having people in your working on projects can sometimes be a bit stressful. The folks with Sweeney Designbuild are kind, courteous, and lovely. I would work with them again and again.

The Sweeney crew were amazing to work with. Throughout the whole construction process, we always felt that Shawn was on our side. He was totally transparent with the budget and efficient with the timeline (despite weeks of rain delays, the construction basically finished exactly when Shawn said it would at the outset). He kept us involved and informed about the process as it unfolded and helped us make design decisions (tolerating our quirks and at-times strange preferences!). The SDC crew and all the sub-contractors they brought into the job were professional, clearly took pride in their what they did, and produced quality work. We loved working with them and have been recommending them to all our friends—trustworthy, reliable, and in tune with their clients' desires.

If you're looking for the top professionals in the area, look no further than SBD. From planning, through trips to decide on materials, through construction, then clean up, these guys are A-1. Throughout the process, I was extremely well taken care of---none of my concerns was too small. But where this crew really shines is in their work. Top quality carpenters, top quality sub-contractors (plumbing, electric, etc.); everyone was exceptionally polite and conscientious. And they really did get the job done on time! It was like watching a dance the way the crews seamlessly work their parts of our project around the timing of all the other parts. The finished project is amazing!

I highly recommend Sweeney Designbuild! They were unbelievably creative in upgrading the functionality of our mudroom and laundry area and it also looks gorgeous. They also finished the room over our garage and it is now the favorite room in our home. Everyone is very professional and fun to work with. We enjoyed working with them during every part of the process. I would hire them again in a heartbeat.
