Amaron Folkstad built our house in Steamboat and exceeded all possible expectations. They deserve the very highest rating and we strongly recommend them. They excelled in every possible area. From project conception through delivery (and after) they were thoughtful, creative, intensely focused on detail, and very budget-conscious. We love our house but if we ever build another one, my first call will be to Mark! They worked with us on a vision for what we wanted and then helped us structure bids for an architect and helped with interviews and selection. It was incredibly helpful to have their insights on costs and construction details as we worked through multiple iterations of the architectural drawings. There were many times when Mark and Craig made crucial suggestions that helped shape the house into exactly what we wanted. The communication could not have been better. We built remotely without the opportunity to visit the project consistently. Mark kept us completely informed throughout, making helpful suggestions on details and delivering much-anticipated project photos every Friday. Even though we weren't able to be at the project site as often as we would have liked, Mark made sure that we were fully immersed in the process. He sent a video of the excavation blasting that I still show friends! Details ultimately are what makes the house your own and Mark's constant attention to detail made our house truly special. He designed much of the interior mill work, railings, and many of the finishes - going as far as spending a day working to mix the perfect stain color for the metal railings inside the house. It was Mark that came up with the idea to cover our exterior chimney in black metal panels, giving the house a great focal point and making it unique in Steamboat. Mark was at the project nearly every day and on the rare occasion when he was away, Craig took over seemlessly and worked with the same care and attention to detail. They are a great team. Mark helped us work with all the finish subcontractors to select flooring, tile, doors, stain finishes, granite, appliances, and helped design the kitchen cabinet layout. He was always there with what turned out to be a fantastic suggestion. Very importantly though, he always worked carefully to help us determine what we wanted and then gave us options on how to achieve it. His long experience In custom building has given him a vast knowledge of the what is available for just about every room in the house. He expertly guided us through all those choices. They are very budget concious and worked carefully to help determine a reasonable budget and then delivered against that. Our house came in right on budget. They were always very clear on budget implications for any decision we made and found a number of ways to keep costs in line without ever sacrificing quality and originality. Perhaps most importantly, they were very knowledgable about the true costs involved and helped us set an honest, detailed budget up front. The extremely detailed budget process meant that we knew the real cost of the house before the first shovel hit the dirt. Overall, we couldn't have had a better experience in building our home and we have Ameron Folkestad to thank for that!

Amaron Folkestad built our first house in Steamboat in 2005-2007 and we are currently building another home which we have hired them for. That lead to selecting Amaron Folkestad as our builder since we were going to be absent most of the time during construction. Mark's recommendations were always spot on with construction finished on time and under cost. Subcontractors were well qualified and have continued to be utilized for follow-up projects. They have remained good friends. We have always been impressed with their total honesty and integrity and would definitely recommend them without reservation.

I have worked on dozens of projects for Craig and Mark at Amaron Folkestad GC over the years. They build incredible homes and I am always amazed out how they each have really unique qualities and design features that are custom to their customers wants and not just the same cookie cutter mountain home.
