I hired Greg primarily based on the reviews of his previous clients on Houzz and I must say, it was a BIG and expensive mistake. He is a great salesman but a horrible contractor. He was rarely, if ever on site to supervise his inexperience staff which ended in costly designs decisions being made without my knowledge. The project started in May 2016 and we had planned well in advance to meet him in mid-July (originally to be completed end of July) and he was a no show. This should have been a wake up call but we chose to stick with him since he kept reassuring us that he was focused on the project and there was only a handful of things to do. That ultimately turned out to be an outright lie since there was still a very long list of things to do when we returned in mid November (over 6 months since the start of the project). In addition to the items not completed, there was damage to brand new vanity cabinets, exposed electrical with no switches in my children’s bedroom (he took the $50 switch that we paid for along with a custom shadow box mirror and bathroom faucets), and a brand new toilet with a massive clog that required 2 service calls because his guys used it as a dump site. The list goes on but the most egregious was the fact that as a result of his poor oversight of our project, his staff had drilled and installed one small handle on each of the three 36 inch wide kitchen cabinet drawers instead of two handles as directed and agreed upon in several emails to him. To our face, he admitted to the mistake and committed to correcting the issue and indicated that he would order 3 new ones. However, upon our return in November, it turned out that he removed the drawer fronts, patched the old holes and painted the entire drawer front with white paint!! It is quite noticeable so I called the kitchen cabinet supplier who confirmed that he NEVER placed a replacement order and she couldn’t help us since he was the point of contact and has refused to return any calls or messages to finish the job that he has been paid for to complete. I am not sure what criteria is used to determine service by Houzz but I can't fathom that lying, stealing and leaving a construction zone behind is what Houzz is all about. I can only include a few pictures but have dozens which showcase both the lack of integrity and professionalism of this company and as well as the poor quality of the work that was actually done.

We have worked with Onyx Development Group the past several years. They are one of the finest custom builders in the Sarasota area and are great to work with.

I usually don't write reviews but I had to share my experience with Greg and Onyx Development. Their professional knowledge and attitude made what could have been an excruciating project relatively painfree. Their attention to detail and my budget were much appreciated. I would use their services again and would highly recommend them.

Greg Arthur/Onyx Development just completed a remodel of our 45 yards old condo kitchen. Greg and his crew were wonderful to work with and Greg was especially In tune with what we wanted the end result to look like. Any problems that came up, Greg always had a solution which was usually better than the original idea. We really just had to step back and Greg and his team along with our kitchen/cabinet designer, Cucine Ricci took care of everything. We would highly recommend using Onyx Development to everyone who is considering remodeling.

We purchased a small condo, (1483 sq ft) in a wonderful area downtown Sarasota, FL. We knew that we wanted to find a contractor who had vision, that would be able to completely transform our entire space to a more transitional style. We initially dealt with Greg long distance, specing out the changes we wanted, and getting his input into new ideas. After our initial discussion, it was apparent that he had the desire, skill and attitude to do a great job. He was hired!! Not only did Greg bring us the vision we were looking for in such a small space, he helped us fulfill our dreams and desires within our budget. His most important characteristics were his honesty, exceptional skill level, and the desire for perfection. He held all his workers and subcontractors to this same very high standard. It was remarkable to us how much pride his own employees took in the jobs they each performed. They made sure the work was done to perfection without having to be asked. He held true to his timeline of just under 3 months which included redoing our entire kitchen, (taking down 1/2 wall in the kitchen/hall), new bathrooms, new floorings throughout, new laundry facilities, updated den, greatly improved our lighting throughout and tiled our patio. Basically, he redid our entire condo. As you can tell, we are absolutely thrilled with our new condo space, and feel we couldn't have chosen a better person/company, than Greg Arthur, Onyx Development Group.

My wife and I chose Onyx Design Group for the remodeling of our 20 year old home because Greg Arthur listened to what we wanted to accomplish and provided us with alternative means of achieving our desired end. Because our project was extensive, including but not limited to: replacing all windows and doors, replacing all siding, modification of the roof line, replacing of all soffits and all deck railings on our Key West style home, installing all new hardwood flooring, gutting and redesigning the kitchen, dining room, laundry room and all bathrooms, Greg and his team helped us through the process of selecting windows/doors, cabinetry, flooring, appliances, plumbing and electrical fixtures, etc., making sure that we were getting exactly what we wanted at a much better cost than we thought possible. Since our project impacted literally every room of our home, we decided to completely redecorate the new space. Onyx Design Group has one of the finest decorators (Audrey Arthur) in all of Sarasota County who worked daily with my wife to make sure that absolutely every element of the decor reflected my wife's desires. We now have a totally new home that reflects all of the elements (open, light, contemporary, maximizing views) that we were looking for and more. This was not a typical remodel, but one where we worked together with genuinely good people to achieve an end that is more than either of us could have achieved individually. We enjoyed a collaborative design effort without any worry about implementation. Greg and his team were truly enjoyable to work with and they constantly made it clear that our complete satisfaction was their only objective. I have only the highest praise and my heartfelt recommendation for Onyx Development Group.

Onyx Development Group has become our go-to construction company when we need a general contractor that not only understands contemporary design, but also excel in their commitment to our clients. Onyx Development Group and Coastline Interiors met mid-February 2013 to collaborate on a large Penthouse remodel in downtown Sarasota, FL. The scope of work was large and could have been daunting with the budget given by our client, yet Greg and his team gave 100% and has given my client a show place. Since the completion of that project, Greg and I have been awarded other commercial work by this same client. My experience with Onyx Development Group was "AMAZING"!!! Nothing was too big of a challenge...completely positive throughout the entire project. They did what they said they would do...and that's huge in today's world. All the guys were a pleasure to have at the site.
