About Us

Excellent full service painting company with 20+ years experience. We do restoration work, older homes as well as new construction. There are two elements that are required for an excellent paint job. First, it takes time and experience in order to learn ones craft. We have spent the time needed to learn about techniques and products so that our work is first rate. The second element is caring about doing the best job for the project. For us this means enjoying the process, making sure the prep is done properly and that no step gets skipped. Another way to say this is attention to detail. These are the reasons why we do excellent work that we are proud of. We are confident that you will be happy with the end result.

Ben's and his team's work is superb. He is in high demand, so anticipate a wait before he perhaps does your work, but it is worth it. Thorough in his preparation, meticulous in his application and detailed in his clean up are hallmarks of his professional work. My home dates from the 1800's and I would say it has never looked better!

My husband and I hired Ben to paint our newly built kitchen, bathroom, and mudroom. The work he and his crew did was excellent, with attention to detail and the proper preparation that ensured the paint job would still look beautiful years later. Ben made color suggestions and had paint custom mixed to match our already commercially painted kitchen cabinets. He made the rooms absolutely sing. I recommend Ben's work without hesitation.

I find Ben one of the best painters I've ever worked with.....and I have a very old and difficult home to maintain. Ben is on the job everyday and does absolutely beautiful work, pays strict attention to detail, and is a delight to be around. He is recently tasked with the job of scraping and painting all the windows and shutters on the front of our house ( about 150 years old) and most of the shutters are original to the house. It is a big and difficult job and he is doing it extremely well. He recently finished a bathroom and all kitchen cabinets ( which were in bad shape) at my sister's place in New Hope. She is thrilled with his work. The cabinets look brand new.....again, his attention to detail. I find his price points very fair and his work exceptional. He has our vote for anything you need done in your home .

I was really surprised to see pictures of my house on Coryell Street on Houzz, especially as Ben walked off the job before he was finished. See the front door - that is primer he put on before the final coat. In general, we found his communications to be unclear, his billing mysterious, and his price in the stratosphere. I wish I could comment on the quality of his work, but he did not finish enough for me to comment. Followup to Mr. Barnet: In response to Mr. Barnet's comment, after having found reputable and honest contractors we are happily in our renovated home. We have discovered that it's better to move on from a GC you are having problems with, and all their associated partners, than try to work with some of them independently. In reference to Mr. Barnet's accusation that we had "bitten off more than we could chew" - I am in agreement. We are not in the habit of throwing our money away on people that don't provide quality work at reasonable prices. If we had continued with that bunch we would have been bankrupt!

It is not in my nature to speak negatively about another person, especially in a public forum but I need to respond to the factual inaccuracies in this review.

I did not walk off this job, Lita and Ken locked out the general contractor and all the trades one night. There were NO complaints on the quality of the work, the issue was that the client had "bitten off more than they could chew" so to speak with this entire project. Their only issue was that they didn't want to spend the amount of money that the project was costing.

Later the client approached me privately and said: a) that they were impressed with my work and b) that they would like to hire me to continue the project but for less money than my original price.

Since they still owed me money for the work that we had completed, and since they owed a HUGE amount of money to the general contractor, I decided that it was not worth the financial risk to keep going with the project.

I can only assume that this review is sour grapes due to me not continuing the project at a reduced rate.

We are in the process of completing the construction of a new home in Princeton NJ. The house has red oak hardwood floors, hardwood columns going up to a vaulted ceiling and stairs leading to a loft area with a balustrade. We hired Ben Barnett to stain the stair railings, columns and balustrade in a color to compliment the floors which had a clear finish. Ben provided many samples of stain colors to help us choose the one that would work best. Ben and his crew carefully sanded, applied stain and polyurethane where indicated, touched up the paint where necessary and completely cleaned up the work area when the job was completed. Ben was always courteous and responsive when we needed to contact him. The finished job looks fantastic. We would definitely hire Benjamin Barnett Painting again!

We have hired Ben several times to paint for us over the past twelve years. The first job Ben and his employees did for us was to paint the entire interior of our large antique farmhouse after we had completed a massive restoration project. We have hired him for several projects since then including painting several rooms, and the prep and painting of the exterior of the oldest part of the house-which is some 240 years old( what a job!). The work he has done for us over the years has included power washing, minor repair of exterior siding and windows as well as cleaning and resealing two mahogany porches. We trust Ben be in our home and on our farm, he and his employees are conscientious, hard working, thoughtful of us and our property and the caliber of their work is EXCELLENT. This day in age its sometimes hard to know who to hire, but based on all our years of experience with Ben, we strongly recommend him.
