Our relationship with Duane began in 2012 when he phoned about a post and beam pavilion for two of his longtime clients. We recommended a specialty structural engineer familiar with timber framing, discussed the pros and cons of various timber species, and I hung up thinking that I liked him. A month later, Duane emailed his preliminary design–an unconventional and striking timber design which we loved immediately and wanted to build. A year and a half later, standing in the completed White Oak timber frame, I looked around with genuine awe at what creative design, a collaborative building process, intention, skill, and great clients can create.
