Sunlife Solar and Roofing
Solar Energy Contractors
"I wanted solar for a long time and I'm happy that I made the decision with such a reputable company. I just had a new roof and solar system installed and all the installers were very nice, punctual, and cleaned up after themselves. They did a great job and I love the way my new roof and solar system looks. In fact my neighbors have already given me compliments. I was worried in the beginning of this process that something would go wrong, but now that my project has been completed I'm relieved that everything worked out the way I was told it would. The entire project was done professionally and Sunlife Solar did everything they said they would do. I have already recommended them to family, friends, and neighbors. This is a company that can be TRUSTED."

"My wife and I started looking at solar a few years ago.We had a few estimates and contractors we met with. And held off until Energy Concepts came over. A gentleman (Jason) came over and we walked and talked until he understood what our objectives were. Then Jason went to work and designed the system we wanted. On time, on budget and saves us money every month. Thanks Jason"

Green Solar Technologies
Solar Energy Contractors
"Thank you Green solar Technologies , it was a pleasure working with this company . i was paying more then a $300 a month with LADWP and i knew that the rates are only going to go up , i contacted Green solar technologies and they where not pushy at all instead of insisting on sending a salesman to my house (i work crazy hours ) they just asked me to fax or email my utility bill , i did that and schedule a phone consultation it was painless ,they explained the deference between a lease and a purchase ,The deference between the panels manufactures and inveretes I did not think there is so much information involved i decided to go with the micro inverter package with micro inverters . i am now paying $20 a month to my utility company it is amazing ."

LA Solar Group
Solar Energy Contractors
"I was tired of getting $200 electric bills in the summer in Los Angeles due to my air conditioning. So, I decided to go solar. I checked out a few companies but they either had mixed reviews or kept calling with sales pressure. I found LA Solar on the Internet. It had many good reviews over a long period of time. This sounded legitimate. They came out and gave me an estimate of about $18,000. I decided to go forward. It was supposed to be finished in 1.5 months but it too closer to 3 months. The price went up a few thousand dollars because I have a metal roof and and part of the roof had to be re-roofed to accommodate the solar panels. But LA Solar cut the revised estimate by $500 by cutting their profit. So, I paid more than the original estimate but they reduced their profit. This was OK since we couldn't put solar panels on a metal roof. The work was finally finished in December 2015. It took so long due to many city inspections. But at least on one occasion, the company didn't show up when the inspector came. This caused a delay. It was supposed to go live around Christmas time but it didn't work. The problem was eventually found to be a defective part. After that was replaced a few days later, the system went live and everything has worked since then. I use an average of 23 kWH per day in my house (I have electric and plug-in hybrid cars). On a sunny day in the spring, I generate 33 kWH from the solar panels. My last few electric bills have been $10 per month (transmission charges). Plus, I will get credit for the excess power that I generate. I am in the black by a cumulative 600 kWH over the last few months! I can't wait to see how much I generate this summer. I feel like the electric company. I am grandfathered in for net metering for the next 20 years. I think you have to contract for solar panels no later than Dec. 2017 to be grandfathered for 20 years in California. I calculated the internal rate of return on my solar panel investment using my cost of about $22,000 and estimated savings for the next 20 years. It is 13% per year! I can't get that in the stock market. Plus, I will always use electricity, so it is a safe investment, assuming my panels work efficiently for the next 20 years. I claimed a 30% federal tax credit on my income tax. Too bad Southern California Edison ran out of rebate money. I highly recommend LA Solar. Except for a few minor glitches, they did a good job, never gave me sales pressure, and were very nice to me on the phone."

NRG UPGRADE
Solar Energy Contractors
"I recommend NRG Upgrade as I had a great experience with them. I thought of going solar for a while but I was hesitant until a friend who has done it, convinced me. I reached out to them and got a full estimate, they made sure to explain every thing and show me what I will be getting. The installers were really nice and professional, the work was clean and quick and their manager was super attentive. I really felt like I was in good hands. I am very happy with the results and even happier to know that I chose the better and cleaner way of living. Highly recommend."

Poulin Solar Pro
Solar Energy Contractors
"Well I received quotes from several companies around NM. I have to say none compare to Poulin Solar Pro. Other companies would come and it just seems they just wanted the business. When Steve came he explained everything and made sure I knew what I was getting. I didn't make the decision right away because I had other companies coming still. When I did decide on Poulan it was because of his pride he took in his company and he didn't bother me everyday to choose them. Steve had the confidence in his company that he knew I would call when I was ready. He was right! I called he came and completed the paperwork and my solar was installed. I'm happy with it and I'm happy with the company I choose. I have already told other about Poulan and I'm sure they will make the same choice!"

What types of residential solar power systems do solar energy contractors design and install?

Solar power systems are part of the growing energy efficiency trend. You may be wondering, what is solar energy, exactly? Solar energy is energy that comes from the sun, and is then converted into electricity and/or utilized for heating air or water.

The most common types of alternative energy systems for the home are solar electric, solar water heating and wind power systems. Solar professionals can help with everything from installing solar skylights to implementing complete solar energy systems.

Let’s say you want a solar electric system for your home. An off-grid system basically consists of solar panels and battery banks. These battery banks store the sun’s energy so you can use electricity at night or on a cloudy day. This system is designed to keep household electricity running for about two or three cloudy days; longer cloudy periods require a backup generator. To install an off-grid system, you’ll want to hire a certified solar energy contractor.

Along with off-grid solar, wind and hybrid energy systems that include batteries and backup generators, there are also grid-tied solar and wind operations. Grid-tied systems are attached to your utility company so if you produce more energy than you use, your meter goes down and you build up energy credits.

Installing solar skylights can save electricity. Sun tunnel skylights are tubular daylight devices that capture sunlight through domes on your roof. Attached to these domes are highly reflective tunnels that draw natural light down into closets, hallways and stairways.

Questions to ask potential solar energy contractors:

  • How long have you been in the business?
  • Can you provide me with references?
  • How do you charge, and what does that include?
  • What do your services include?
  • When can this job get done?
  • What happens when the cost exceeds the budget? What about changes to materials or labor pricing?
  • What will I need to provide?
  • Are there any important considerations or concerns you foresee with this project?
  • Do you have state certification?
  • Will you come to my home for a free onsite consultation?
  • Are you able to repair an older system?
