We had a few other companies visit us and we had pretty much given up having a pool, because our backyard is small. We were told to get a hot tub or a swim spa and forget about an inground pool. Then, along came Les from The Pool Store and he assured us that he could give us our dream! The majority of the pool was finished within a couple of weeks. They kept the disruption to a minimum and worked clean. We were very impressed by their dedication to the job, getting here early and working long days.
Since our pool was finished near the end of last season, we decided not to open it until this spring. The crew were back to make sure all the equipment was hooked up and working properly. Derick and John gave us a comprehensive session on maintaining the pool. We also have been to visit the store and Judi is an expert in helping you keep your pool chemicals at a safe level. They have totally made us feel like one of their family.
I highly recommend contacting The Pool Store. We couldn’t be happier!

We had our pool built by Les MacPherson last year. Les built us a great pool and we are very happy. The construction quality is top notch. Les is a perfectionist in his construction.
Judy is fantastic with pool chemicals and support. Super knowledgeable and helpful in maintaining a great balance in our pool.

The Pool store awesome from start to finish. Les helped us design our pool and he was able to include all the features we wanted. We love our colorful lighting, black pool liner and full length steps into the pool. We are so happy with our pool and had a great experience working with the pool store. They were so quick! We were swimming within weeks. Customer service has been so helpful :) Highly recommend!

Les was wonderful to work with! we renovated our old vinyl pool and put in place a new one. From designing to excavating and completing the project, Les was accommodating and guided us through decisions. We started the project in late fall and we are just in the process of completing it! We are going to work together on a new project come spring.

Our family was fortunate enough to have worked with the Pool Store on our pool build this summer.
The owners (who are on site every day) took full control of the entire job from start to finish and were professional, friendly and accommodated every special request we asked for (and we had a lot).
We were looking for a custom pool to be designed EXACTLY the way we had drawn it on paper with crayons!! (seriously)... and the Pool Store delivered EXACTLY what we wanted!
When we started our search, things important to us were:
1. cost
2. quality
3. promises that could be kept
The Pool Store came through every time. They are not the least expensive, but we were more than willing to pay for a custom result, quality workmanship, and most importantly - when they promised something - they came through on it.
We said we wanted to be swimming by July 1 and we most definitely were. Our pool and total landscape job started on June 6 and we were swimming, enjoying our yard by June 28. WOW!!!
I wouldn't hesitate recommending the Pool Store and will definitely build another pool with them in the future.

Les builds a quality pool and was very creative with ideas for the landscaping surrounding the pool. It can be challenging to work within the confines of an urban lot but he made it happen. The "soft" steps in the pool are great.
Once the pool was installed, Judi gave us all the information, we needed as new pool owners, to keep it in top shape.

For years our Family spent our vacations at water parks throughout the US and had a blast. However, like all vacations, they are short lived. This year we decided to go in a different direction and install a pool. After an extensive search, we decided to go with Les and his Team, mostly on a recommendation of a close friend and our research that outlined the material and quality of workmanship used by Les.
We had a limited budget and access to our backyard, no issue with Les as he delivered on time and beyond our expectations. We would truly recommend Les and his Team for the build and Judi for all after market sales and knowledge. We look forward to many summers to come. Sincerely, The White Family

After much time searching for a pool company, we decided to go with The Pool Store. Les, Judy and team have a passion for the pool industry that is unmatched anywhere and it shows in their finished products, of which we saw a few.
From start to finish, Les and his team were happy to stop and explain the process, including explaining why they do things a certain way. From my perspective, Les will always do it right, even at the expense of significant time or effort being required.
We are ecstatic about our pool and will enjoy it forever, because that's how long it's built to last.
PS. I feel that have to comment on the negative review posted about Les by Devon Jones as I believe it is only telling one (skewed) side of the story. Les makes his living by building pools, and in order to continue to make that living, he needs to book several jobs in advance. Being one of the better builders out there, his time is sought after a lot, so the non-refundable deposit is in place to protect him from people wasting his time and causing him to miss out on other jobs. He took the time to explain it to us, and I'm sure he did the same for Devon Jones. Les was open and honest with us that we could wait as long as we wanted to give him a deposit, but our place in his calendar would only be set once we did.

Be very careful if Leslie (Les) McPherson of the Pool Store. We met him once and decided to build a pool with him. he told us to give him a cheque that night to be bumped up in having a pool build starting in 3 weeks. One week later when he was unclear of a starting date, and the work he was providing seem minimal for the cost we decided we didnt want to proceed. His response was that the pool Store does not Refund Ever. If you do business with him please make sure you know his company's refund policy and if he is personally liable for your deposit. he think he is sly but foxes can be outsmarted.
I am giving a 1 start as that's the lowest I can give.

Comment from The Pool Store:
As a highly professional sought after business, we require a deposit when we reach an agreement with a client. This deposit does two things; first it commits our time to build your new pool and second, it commits you to us financially.
In Mr. Devon Jones case, he contacted us through a referral and asked me to call him, which I did the next day. After a short conversation, he asked me to "pencil him in". I told him that I would not do that; however, I could come by his home and talk with him and his wife that evening. He said that he would like that and to come by. I arrived at his home and talked with both Mr. and Mrs. Jones and as I do with everybody, I asked them about their budget. Their reply was between $75,000 and $100,000. I told them that was a very good budget and they could have a very nice pool and landscaping done within that budget.
After some further conversation, they asked how to move forward as they would like me to start tomorrow. I told them the only way to secure a build spot was to supply us with a 10% deposit cheque and the best I could do was place their build three spots out. Mrs. Jones was delighted with that and supplied the 10% deposit cheque. A few days later I took them to view two pools in their desired level of quality, one with a concrete deck and one with a Granite deck. After seeing my pool builds the Jones's decided to add a granite deck to their pool.
I told them to give me a few days to put together a quote on the deck, which I supplied as requested. The day after receiving the deck quote Mr. Jones sent me a text saying that the price had doubled and he didn't want to go forward. I explained to him that the price for the pool had not changed, it is exactly the same price that it was when i received the 10% deposit and the only difference was the Granite deck that was added. Trying to help with costs I offered an alternative less expensive build if they preferred. A few days after that Mr. Jones told me that he had decided not to move forward with the pool at any cost and asked for his deposit back. I explained to Mr. Jones that I had put off another client that was not in a hurry and moved his build to their spot, since the Jones's were in a super hurry and wanted it built "yesterday!”. I also explained that the client that I put off had gone on vacation and I had no way of contacting them to move them back. For that reason as well as these reasons we would not give him the deposit back. The Pool Store only builds a small number of pools per year and has employees, heavy equipment, and store front overhead that needs to be covered and will now sit idle. Mr. Jones decision to cancel will cost The Pool Store down time and significant financial loss. Their deposit will help to offset those costs. However if we managed to resell his build spot we would refund his Deposit. We regret the Jones's decisions, as I’m sure they do but refuse to be held liable for them.

Great experience from start to finish. Les helped us make all the decisions we needed to make in terms of design and construction as well as what type of water and equipment made the most sense for us. I was around for most days during the construction and can say this pool is built right from the ground up. Mike Holmes level quality at every step...I expect the pool to outlast the house.
When your new pool is done Judi and the folks at the store walk you through everything you need to know about your pool and chemicals and keeping everything running clean. Stop in whenever you have questions and they're always ready to test your water and help out.
If you're putting in a pool and want it done right...go with the pool store.
Ps. When Les tells you how much the light costs, get it anyway...when your pool glows any colour you want at night you will not regret it.

The Pool Store recently built a custom pool for our new home. Les MacPhearson spent a lot of time discussing our options and was genuinely sincere about making sure we got the pool we wanted. This is a business that cares about its customers and their happiness with the work completed. They are straight up and honest and make sure there are no negative surprises. I would recommend this business to anyone who desires the best craftmenship and quality when putting in a pool.
