The industrious clients came to us with dreams of a new garage structure to provide a home for all of their passions. The design came together around a three car garage with room for a micro-brewery, workshop and bicycle storage – all attached to the house via a new three season porch – and a native prairie landscape and sauna structure on the roof. This rooftop garden on Manhattan's Upper East Side features an ipe pergola and fencing that provides both shade and privacy to a seating area. This West Village rooftop garden features a custom ipe horizontal fence and planter, concrete pavers, and outdoor dining and sectional seating. It also includes black fiberglass planters filled with Japanese maples, bamboo, maiden grasses, hydrangeas, and knockout roses. Design ideas for a large traditional partial sun rooftop formal garden in New York with decking for summer.

Finished rooftop project with custom metal furniture and arbor, Tournesol planters, and container plantings. This is a close up of the custom metal furnishings. On top of the custom metal table base we installed limestone slabs. We decided wo add warmth to the space, by finding a reclaimed piece of wood and affixing it to a custom metal base.
