Need help with layout

We are adding a master suite tat I recently got some discussion on but would like your thoughts on this layout and design. The single door will be the door going into the bedroom. The double doors will open to a porch or patio in the backyard. Not totally sold on the layout but the size is around 20x30 with a extra few feet for a sitting room that will have a two sided fireplace. Not sure if this is the best layout? Thoughts...

Ok, saw this last night and its already on page 8 of DD. I think if your bedroom is 20' wide, putting a bed in the direction shown and having a pair of doors opposite means you can have a 7' bed + 16-24" bench at its foot and still have 11' until you get to the doors. And not sure on the scale of your closet, but if its not at least 7' wide (2' clothes/3' walk/2' clothes) with rods on boths sides... you're not going to fit in there. Also I agree with bathroom/closet door ideas above and not sure about the fireplace but I wouldnt make it a huge one, maybe a cool object like one would be better. Anyhow, see attached. I moved the bed so its facing the FP, symmetrical windows on either side of the bed allows for the doors on one side and a bureau on the other, The closet, I am guessing is about 10'+ wide by 7'? That would mean the bathroom could be 10' by 9'. Fixtures would be 30-36' for a tub shower line, 36 for a toilet enclosure and 48' for a sink. You need 5' for a double, its doable and this is just a quick sketch....a very quick sketch. Good luck!

you should have two entries into the Bathroom / Closet, it doesn't make sense to walk into closet through bath. so the to entries should be side by side in the middle of the wall where the dresser is, so your bath will take up a rectangle to the left and closet, the rectangle to the right.

I agree with Aggie about the closet door being accesible from the bedroom. Also...I'm wondering if having the FP there will lose the wonderful open spacious feel of the room and sitting area. Is it floor to ceiling FP or a modern gel flame kind that is low?

I'd reposition the closet and bathroom layout. I'd have them run the other way and reconfigure the bath layout. It is not an efficient design. Google typical bathroom layouts and you'll see what configurations work best. The fireplace infront of the window will shorten the space and make it feel smaller.

Again I would say that putting the bed on that wall is like having it at the end of a livingroom. Its 20' long, so after the bed, you still have 13' to go.... its long. Maybe you could have your seating area in that space and then two good size closets. A desk between them with a window and bathroom and linen closet on the other end. see attached.

I would square up the room and if you like the separate seating area, enter it from either end, leaving a wall between the two openings. That's where I'd place the bed and would put the FP where you have the bed on your drawing. Others have made good points about the closet/bath issue. Actually, this is where you'd be better off to bring in an architect, who could flesh out your ideas and cut expences in the long term by taking advantage of installations in the current home that could be matched up with the new structure - like plumbing, HVAC, etc.
