We have worked with Mike for the last 7 years, both as a client for our new construction projects and as a builder on Mike's architecture projects. Mike is by far one of the most creative, honest, patient, and responsive architects that we have had the pleasure to work with. When you need Mike, he always picks up the phone and is there at the drop of a hat. Mike's goal is to give every client an end product that is truly special. He cares deeply about every project and it shows in the attention and time he puts into each home. His designs successfully fit with the area of each home while allowing for details that allow the home be more than ordinary. Mike's knowledge of architecture, design, and building sets him apart from other architects and enables him to have a big picture view of his projects. I have worked with Mike on both professional and personal projects. For my home, he has done three projects, both interior and exterior. The two interior projects included redesigning interior space. Both times our project went off without a hitch and with beautiful and functional results. In addition, I am a real estate agent and have recommended Mike on several occasions. He is quick and familiar with local regulations when it comes to having to "legalize" something for sale.

We used Michael McCann as our architect for a second story addition 13 years ago. You can not tell where the original house ends and the new section begins. The design was spot on. We also just used him for commercial design plans when our business had a major fire last year. He is professional, knowledgeable, easy to work with and has a great eye for design. As a realtor I feel extremely comfortable recommending Mike to my clients.

Mike McCann has now designed 4 kitchens for my wife and I. Each one is better than the last. He is very creative and sees things we never would have thought of. My sister in law said the last kitchen he did for us in Bedford was the nicest kitchen she had ever been in. Mike is the only architect I would ever use.

We have worked with Mike McCann since 1980 when he lofted one of the bedrooms in our New York apartment. During the years from 1980 to 1986, he designed three additions to our 1872 barn which houses our retail business on Cape Cod, winning any appeal we needed to make to the town for changing our historic building, was prominent in the historic district. Mike is a joy to work with and certainly knows how to handle people, a most important skill when before a Board of Appeals. Mike is not only a trained architect/builder/engineer, but he is an artist. During the years 1980 to 2005, he designed three major renovations/combinations of our four Manhattan pre-war apartments, including the duplexing of two of them in 2005. He seamlessly dealt with the personnel in the building, as well as the contractors and trades. Not only was this project an engineering feat never accomplished before in our building, but also our home is a gracious work of art. The most recent project Mike designed for us was the renovation of our 1920 cottage on Cape Cod Bay in 2014. Without losing the charm of this house, or changing the footprint, he enhanced both the living space and the water view in all areas of the house. Mike solicited our input and listened carefully to our ideas as we moved through the construction in each of these projects. Having an architect who was actually a builder was key in each of these challenging jobs. Lucky are those who choose Mike McCann as their architect!

We have worked with Mike McCann in many capacities over the past 25 years. Mike has been our architect, builder,and advisor on 3 major residential projects. We first worked with Mike when we were renovating our home in Bronxville NY in the early 1990’s. He was responsible for the architectural drawings, permits, subcontractors, and primary construction. Our second project was far more involved as we began a decade long renovation of our home in New Canaan Ct which involved renovations and additions to a 1929 colonial home over 15,000 sq. ft. Mike and his team updated the home but maintained the workmanship and details that we loved in the original design. The work included the main residence , guest house and pool house. The work when completed looked like it was part of the original 1929 design but updated to current standards and amenities. Mike worked with us in a collaborative way and always balanced his architectural vision with the practicality of a first class residential builder. The last of the three major projects Mike worked on with us was the architectural design of our summer home in Quogue N.Y. Mike spent hours with us as we designed our home after we took down the existing home in the fall of 1999. He was the architect of our home and worked closely with the builders in Quogue N.Y.. His ability to listen to our vision and bring it to reality has brought wonderful summer memories for our family for over the past 15 years. Mike is an architect and builder who can create from a clean slate or can work with the existing home and make renovations seem like they were always part of the existing residence. Most importantly he has always been there to follow up on issues or discuss new ideas as our family evolves and grows and our needs change. We have nothing but great reviews for Mike McCann as an architect, builder, and advisor but also as a friend. We contracted Mike McCann to design a new addition to our home. There were several options for tackling this addition and Mike was willing to provide schematics for 3 alternative designs. In the end, we heeded his advice and went with the more straightforward design. In particular, we appreciated Mike's willingness to make himself available for consultations, and his ability to navigate the permit process most efficiently. In the end, both Mike McCann and our contractor, SLH Builders, Inc. delivered this project on time and within budget projections. We would not hesitate to work with Mike McCann on future projects.

I waited a long time to renovate my kitchen and dining room. It was old, crowded and hard to use. Michael McCann turned it into a gorgeous, spacious completely functional space that is now the centerpiece of our home. Mike presented us with wonderful ideas on how to maximize the space and he prepared meticulous plans. He guided us through the selection of all materials and appliances and supervised all of the construction. Mike and his team of workmen were very professional, thorough, knowledgeable and a pleasure to have in the house. The workmanship is top notch. Mike also took care of all filings and permits and saw the project through from beginning to end. We absolutely love our new kitchen. I would highly recommend Mike for any job.
