EnvironmentalLights.com Thank you for your interest! The product in this photo is our LED Super Flat Rope Light.
It is a very bright, very rugged directional LED light that was specifically designed for longer runs that required a bit more protection than the average LED lights.

EnvironmentalLights.com "I’m fairly certain dimmers are a gift from the decorating gods." - We agree! Having control over the lighting in a space can make it so versatile. We have dimming solutions for nearly all of our LED products: canned lighting, under cabinet lighting, cove lighting, etc. Great article Melisa, thank you for sharing your lighting tips!

Apartment 46 for the Home Thanks for your comment Luminous nw. I actually feel like both are important. As a designer obsessed with lighting, I would never have a lamp I didn't love in my home and for me personally if that meant that I had to have several really great lamps to get the degree of lighting I wanted, that's what I would do. :) I believe layering lighting is a fantastic thing but lighting is so personal that everyone needs to feel comfortable with the rooms they inhabit.
luminous nw Very true. I guess I'm biased because no one picks lamps they don't like the look of (though as your article suggests, there is a bit more than "liking" the lamp), but few people think about what type of lighting effect they want. Thanks to your article, maybe a few more people will!

eithkrp1 I really am leaning toward putting a fireplace in this basement in between the built-ins (picture in first post) Anyone have feedback on ventless fireplaces in basements or some solution for this wall? Going to put an inset TV where the blue tape is and it just looks like it needs something below it.

    Thanks

EnvironmentalLights.com A great way to modernize a space is to add layers to the lighting. Putting LED under cabinet strip lighting is both functional and decorative. There is also an opportunity for cove lighting in this space. Color changing LED strip lighting can be controlled with our LinkUp remote or from an app on your smart phone. This custom installation would look great inside your theater or above the game table!

We offer complimentary design services, if you are interested in installing LEDs give us a call (888) 880-1880

knjunk where exactly is the LED light strip? Is it outside or is it placed inside the bar?
Lina Crawford Interior Design Hello. The LED strip light is placed behind the glass. We built a Toe Kick that was wide enough to have the glass and the strip be placed onto it. This way the light shines through, not against the glass. (No glare)
    Thank you for your enquiry.

P & A Consultants threehearts the purpose of LED light bulbs & LED strip lighting is different. The LED light bulbs are a replacement for incandescent bulbs or CFL s where as LED strips are used for accent lighting, under cabinet lighting , cove lighting , bar top lighting, under counter lighting, cabinet lighting etc. therefore the usage of both LED Bulbs & LED Strips are distinct from each other.

Melanie Majerus We are looking to put some similar lighting in our 3 season porch, but the walls are straight. I'm wondering what is the ideal the distance between the top of the crown moulding and the ceiling? We want to make sure we are letting enough light through.
EnvironmentalLights.com @MelanieMajerus The ideal distance will depend on the effect you are looking for. A small distance (less then 6 inches) will create a more intense blast of light, a greater distance (more then 6 inches) will create a softer glow. We would also recommend installing the LED strips at an angle so that the bean angle faces outwards instead of straight up to the ceiling. I hope that answers your question, feel free to call and speak with one of our engineers if you have more questions. (888) 880-1880

EnvironmentalLights.com Thank you for your interest Joshua! East Side Interiors designer, Jessica Goudreau designed this wet bar using dimmable LED strip lighting in very warm white (2,400 K) from Environmental Lights. The LED strips are installed inside of the bar and glow through the milky lenses. Here is a link to the LEDs that were used in this project:

Chryssanthou, Inc. The light you see 'glowing' behind the palms is wall washed light from outdoor, in ground brass fixtures that utilize MR 16 halogen bulbs. The wall is simply a Venetian plaster-finished exterior wall of the neighboring structure.
The garden was punctuated throughout with additional in ground fixtures to provide uplight on the established Ficus trees. Although it is not seen in this photograph due to the time of day, the garden was also lit by moonlights hidden in the the Ficus canopy.
