It was a pleasure to bring in the professionals of ‘Joel & Co. Construction’ for the kitchen remodeling project. My kitchen area was too small to be used properly or move freely. I hired Joel and his team on the recommendation of my friend. They have given a complete new appearance to the cooking area.

Joel & Co. Construction is such a great find! A few months back I contacted Joel about having a kitchen remodel and bathroom remodel. He arrived 20 mins. before our set appointment ( he sat in his truck till it was time) and was prompt with his bid. When I finally made a decision and was ready to move on the project, he was there within days and got the job done as promised. The work is just beautiful and clean ... we couldn't be happier. Now, through Joel & Co. Construction, we are planning to add a second story room addition to our home. While we are still in the planning stages, I am having a similarly stellar experience. Joel and those who work for him and with him are professional and courteous. Rare in the world of contractors!

Our house is old and needed minor repairs here and there. One of those minor repairs was what looked like a leak right above the front door. It manifested itself through peeling paint and surface discoloration. It was more obvious whenever we would have rain or significant moisture. So we went through a couple of contractors recommended by family and friends. Either they charged exorbitantly or were flaky. It was after this that we went to Houzz and looked at what was available out there. Joel & Co. Construction came up and the reviews which were very positive. So, why not give them a call? We called Joel and he promptly answered letting us know that he was on his way to a job and could stop by to take a look. What? Wait...a contractor who could come by and take a look on the first call? Okay, so he came by and looked at the wall above the front door and did some poking around. He then gave us a brief summary of the strategy he would use in order to find and repair the leak. He then gave us a general estimate which included how many days' work, how much per hour, etc. We did the math and thought it was reasonable and gave him the green light. They were a good team - Joel, Alex and Julio. We were impressed with their workmanship. We can only tell you how great they were in doing the job and cleaning up after themselves. The job was done within the time described by Joel. Oh, by the way, Joel is very prompt in communication using email, cell phone and text. Very conscientious, that Joel!

If you're looking for a job done right with friendly, helpful people, for a reasonable price, you need to give Joel & Co. Construction a call. We needed to update our living room with recessed lighting, a chandelier, and a large paint job so we got a few quotes. These guys gave a great estimate and were some of the nicest people we've ever met. They were prompt and helpful, happily answering a barrage of questions I had. They did the job quickly, but professionally. Joel stopped in at the start of the work and afterward, to make sure we didn't need anything else and that the work was done to our liking. But he didn't have anything to worry about because Julio and Chris did an amazing job. We honestly began looking around our house to see what else needed an update just so we can give Joel and his crew a call again. Thank you guys so much!

From the first day of work we could see the professionalism, Joel & Co. Construction was always on time and working full steam ahead. There was never a time that I showed up to the job site and the crew was not working. I cannot say how many job sites I have gone to and found that the crew was short a few members or guys were sitting down, etc. Joel & Co. made our dream home come to life. I would recommend Joel Portillo to anyone without hesitation. This is the kind of team you need on any project and the kind of honesty that you can't find very often. We've had a wonderful experience working with Joel & Co. Construction for the remodeling of our home in Los Angeles. We started with a downstairs, remodeling 3 bathrooms (one including a steam shower), 4 bedrooms, a staircase, living room, and eventually added a large kitchen remodel to the job list. Throughout the planning and construction process, Joel has been absolutely phenomenal. He is always "on call" and will answer my calls or texts at any time of the day. He is also an excellent problem-solver and will always go the extra mile to make our lives easier, from handling a surprise mold problem at cost to offering to go shopping for materials with us and liaising with suppliers. He also did a lot of advising and hand-holding during the design stage. He has always stuck to the estimate amounts. Not once has he ever asked for additional payments. Everything has been done in accordance with the contracts we drew up before starting work. Joel's workers are very clean and respectful and have done excellent work so far. They also show up every day without long pauses, which I can't say about other contractors that have done work for us. There is nothing more irritating than having the workers not show up for a few days or more, and that never happens with Joel and Company. They have also done a lot of "free" stuff for us that have come up along the way and weren't included in the original bids. In short, Joel & Co. Construction is a top-notch operation. Their extraordinary customer service has made our remodel a relatively stress-free process. Joel is incredibly nice, knowledgeable, and responsive. We will be recommending him to all of our friends and neighbors.

We had just purchased a new home. We had trouble finding a general contractor willing to start work, as soon as possible and for a reasonable price. Joel and his crew saved the day! They came in and went to work right away. We had general renovation, kitchen remodel, bathroom remodel, hard wood floors to install and painting throughout the whole house. The level and quality of work was undeniably great! And taken into consideration the time given... amazing construction company!! Joel was there with us through all the concerns and decision making we had. His suggestions really helped us find what we were looking for in terms of materials and design decisions. A great team leader really makes a difference but his crew was extremely courteous and helpful as well. Such a hard working group of guys deserve praise, especially at the price and level of this craftsmanship. We have dealt with many contractors before and it has been a struggle many times. Some contractors will work at a snail's pace or they may not do the work as you envisioned it or there are problems that arise unnecessarily due to lack of attention on the contractor's part. Joel & Co. Construction are on another level when it comes to customer support and good, quality work. You will not regret choosing Joel and Company and I cannot recommend them enough!

My husband and I just finished our 2 bathroom remodeling projects with Joel and Company. We also redid the fireplace, and did some other misc projects. Overall, my husband and I are very pleased with the outcome. I would definitely recommend Joel and his crew. They are extremely reliable and they get the job done! The bathroom remodels are well designed and detailed. The tile work is on point! They are now our go-to-contractor for any remodeling project we will have in the future. After scouring houzz for local contractors, I came across Joel & Co. Construction who provided me with a quote that I was comfortable with. I hired Joel and his team to renovate my kitchen, and remodel my bathroom and install new hardwood floors throughout my home. Now that the project is complete, I could not be happier with the results. The most important thing for me besides quality of work, was communication since I have a very busy schedule. Joel was always responsive to all my requests. The quality of the work is second to none. My kitchen and bathroom look amazing. The hardwood floors came out beautiful. Joel gave me a time frame of 4-5 weeks for this renovation. But to my delight, they finished sooner than that and I was extremely pleased. I highly recommend Joel &. Co. Construction based on my experience.

Joel just finished my kitchen remodel, and MY GOODNESS what a transformation! Here's what I loved about Joel & Co. Construction they are very professional and friendly, SUPERB communication, accurate estimate (does measurements and thorough evaluation instead of throwing numbers off the top of his head), fair pricing (stayed within budget even with unexpected electrical, wood, and plumbing issues), has connections with suppliers for the best deals on materials, has good taste and is blunt and honest about design ideas, go out of their way to do little improvements not mentioned in the contract, very detail-oriented and so particular about execution (he notices little things that I don't even think about or realize)... Gosh, the list seriously goes on! Our family feels super comfortable with Joel... My kids (specifically my 7 year old) compliments on what a great job he and his crew did every single day they were here! One thing I had to learn is to trust him, particularly with design ideas. Everything, from our floors, to the paint, to the baseboards, cabinets, back-splash, and counter-tops were all his choice! I had an idea in mind for the kitchen as a whole, and he knew what little things were needed to put together the vision! It was really weird cause I doubted his choices initially, thinking I knew better. But I had to trust his experience, and it turned out awesome in the end! I doubt my kitchen would be just had I envisioned it, had I chosen the original materials! Joel knew what it took to deliver the big picture! We are in the midst of planning our next home project, which pretty much includes the rest of the house. Can't wait!

I want to recommend Joel & Co. Construction. He is a true professional who surrounds himself with like minded professionals. It is a pleasure having Joel and his team in my home. I am an interior designer and chose Joel to remodel my bathroom/ guest bedroom and it was obvious that he takes his craft seriously. I have worked with many contractors in my line of work and rate him among the top in his field. I can't say that about all of the contractors I have worked with. Some of the important details to me: He kept me abreast of costs with projections, he was on time, his crew was respectful and respectable, he returns calls promptly, he gave me change orders before the work proceeded, the project was always clean at the end of the day and he always answered my questions with interest and respect. Joel & Co. Construction is NOT your average contractor. I wholeheartedly can recommend him to anyone looking for a great contractor in the Los Angeles area.

I was extremely lucky enough to stumble across Joel & Co. Construction on Houzz while shopping for a 5 star, highly rated contractor in Los Angeles to take over a bathroom remodel project in my home which was not going very well. I will not get into too much detail about the first two "contractors" that I hired and fired, but let's just say the first two turned out not to be licensed and had no idea what they were doing. When I first called Joel and Company, one of the receptionists had initially stated they usually book appointments with the owners a week or two in advance. However, after I explained my situation, the receptionist called Joel on his cell; luckily Joel was in the area and met me in less than an hour.Joel's experience and knowledge was immediately evident; he pointed out so many things the previous contractors had missed which would have cost me dearly later. I signed the contract the next day, the bathroom remodel was completed much sooner than scheduled and the finished product turned out much much better than I had hoped for. Without a doubt, Joel and his crew will be my go-to company for all of my future projects! THANK YOU JOEL and your entire crew!
