Meyer Design did a fantastic job for us on a major home remodel. Work completed included conversion of a greenhouse area into conventional living space and redesign of several roof areas to better control water runoff. Their interface with our general contractor was seamless. Project was completed on schedule and under initial projected cost.

Steve Meyer and his team are tremendous. They are talented, have a broad and varied architectural repertoire, and listen to their customers. They were able to listen to our vision of our dream home and develop a great design. They are fantastic at continuing to work with you until you are satisfied completely. Steve has this uncanny ability, to listen to his customers and translate that into house plans that are incredible. His ability to work with roof lines to create fantastic rooms is also noteworthy. He listened to our vision and designed a home that we are 1000% satisfied with. I cannot recommend Steve and his team highly enough. They are the best architectural firm that I have ever worked with.

Steve, Jessica and the team were a pleasure to work with. After several iterations and changes by me, they delivered a solid plan to renovate my small duplex property maximizing every bit of available space in both units. The contractor was able to easily translate the architectural plans into a set of work plans used for the approved permits. Meyer Design created our entire floor plan and blueprints from a few conversations with my husband (modern) and me (industrial farmhouse). They tweaked the plans to fit our personal style and habits -- and even added a pool and pool house halfway through the project that looks like it was supposed to be there all along. The 3-D renderings they created helped us make exterior selections with a full understanding of how the materials would look when they were put together. As this project comes to a close, we are grateful it all began with the creative professionals at Meyer Design.

We worked with both Steve and Jessica and the concepts and ideas they presented were more ideal than we could have imagined. Our goal was to minimize wasted space on the first floor instead of adding on. Almost a complete redesign of the kitchen turned into our dream house. MD design is friendly, creative and responsive. I've been able to work with the Meyer team on a number of projects. They do a great job of helping the clients understand how important it is to have a fantastic plan set before diving into a big project. Too often I've worked with architects that offer a quick turn time or low costs only to have clients frustrated with the lack of details spoil the project later. From a business perspective I value that Meyer has a process that they follow. They are not flying by the seat of their pants trying to make each project work. They know what they are doing and what needs to happen to make the project work. Oftentimes when designing a large project clients just want to get to the finish line. From the experience of Meyer they recognize when to hit the pause button, take a deep breath and make the details right the first time. The last thing I'll say is that they know what it takes to get a permit approved. Each city or municipality has different rules. It is confusing to many and frustrating to all. Meyer knows the rules, understands what is required and gets the job done and the permit approved.

We hired Meyer Design to create the plans for our new home. Steve and Jessie were wonderful to work with helped us design a home that is perfect for our family and how we live. They really took the time to listen to our wants/needs and came up with creative and innovative ways to construct our home while being mindful of our budget. We have been so pleased with Meyer Design we have worked with them on two houses in the last five years. Steve stresses the importance of really understanding his clients and how they truly live while designing a home. He captured the character we desired perfectly and we continue to be amazed with our new home. He was very patient with us as we strove to build the best house possible within our budget and took the time to explain the pros and cons of things we were contemplating. When my husband and I first made the decision to build new construction in Naperville, we found ourselves picking out all the Lakewest Builders houses as our favorites. Not only because we'd heard Lakewest was the best rated builder in town, but also because these were the houses where we felt "the architecture made sense" for day to day family life. Turns out that the "sense" behind all these coherent and attractive houses comes from Meyer Design. We had toured dozens of houses in our price range that had every trendy and expensive finish in the book, but still featured awkward floor plans and a mishmash of competing design elements. We showed up to the first meeting with a multipage list of architectural "Loves" and "Hates" as well as some pretty fussy requirements for day to day functionality. When Steve Meyer came back with his preliminary set of drawings a few weeks later I was so surprised and happy. There it all was, every concern addressed in a way that made sense, both for us now and later for resale. We've also had great success bouncing ideas off of Jessie Otte as well, as we refine the look of the house with the help of our builder. It's a great team, I recommend Meyer Design highly.

They were consistently helpful providing us with floor plans, details and very knowledgeable, which helped us immensely when making field changes. Their help was crucial to provide the client with the best interior possible. They were always very professional and went out of their way to work on this project. They helped us meet deadlines and stay on budget. The home was (grand total) over 8,000 square feet that included a full finished basement.
