A native of New Jersey, born in Newark and raised in Verona, Steve Vanadia determined at an early age he wanted to become a builder. At 17, he began working with a local carpenter and later attended Fairleigh Dickinson University to study accounting. A framer by trade, Steve founded Vanco Construction in 1980. He considers himself very fortunate to work side-by-side with his wife Lyn, who has handled the bookkeeping details of the business since its early days. Lyn’s creativity and supportive influence continue to contribute to the growth of Vanco Construction. Vanco Construction builds primarily in Short Hills, New Jersey, as well as in the surround Morris County communities of Mendham, Bernardsville, Basking Ridge, and New Vernon. Each year we focus our attention on a handful of custom projects, each ranging in cost from $ 1 million to $ 5 million. “Our approach beings with a clear understanding that producing a dream project is a team effort,” explains Steve. “The homeowner, builder, architect and interior designer must work as a team.” Working from our headquarters is an impressive 16,000 square foot office building recently renovated in Livingston, Vanco Construction employs a professional office staff and talented craftsmen in the field. Steve Vanadia maintains continual involvement in the building process, often visiting job sites daily. Design, layout, construction methods and material selections are all among his areas of expertise. Steve is also in constant communication with the client, encouraging them to offer suggestions and become immersed in the design and construction of their dream.
