We are a custom home design firm specializing in the pacific NW Lodge, Timber Frame, rustic ranch style projects. Blending rustic with functional elegance to create a timeless warm inviting house you'll love to call home. We not only have the job of turning your dream home into a functional, structurally sound, energy efficient and beautiful home… we coordinate all the “ins and outs” of the building industry. How? Everyone in our office has worn the tool belt at one time or another and understands construction from the builder’s point of view. Even more than that, we have a nationally certified building inspector and plans examiner on staff; this allows us to keep up to date with the weekly changing interpretations and rulings of building codes. We are not only the premier design team in Central Oregon, but we have projects across the northwest, the US and even overseas in places such as Japan.

We had friends who had used Western Design to design a new home and we liked what we saw. So we talked to Western Design about a remodel to our 1980's vintage house to gut the kitchen, dining room and living room areas and open up this entire space. The house had interesting curved arch features in the doorways and Elvin developed several options that showed ways to incorporate this feature into the final design. This turned out great. We also did a complete remodel of the Master Bath to make it wheelchair accessible with a roll-in shower and a separate toilet area. This also turned out fantastic. We LOVE the results and our friends are amazed with the transformation of the areas. The plans were complete and there were no issues with Plan approvals from the City. And the design and construction costs stayed within our budget.

It was our lucky day when we hired Western Design to design our dream retirement home. After interviewing 5 other designers we were ready to find professionals who would listen to every detail we desired in our home. Elvin and Gary did this, and came up with a design that truly exceeded our expectations. We have been impressed by the level of detail not only in the beautiful exterior drawings, but with amazing interior renderings. These interior views have allowed us to be able to visual exactly how our home will look when completed. Completed a 10k sq. ft. multi-phase construction project following detailed plans co-developed by Western Design and a structural engineer in response to my specific need for a classic building look, made with modern and 'green' building materials. A success transpiring in 4 years total, with each phase done in less than 18 construction months, with detailed architecture from W. D. I recommend. stan

I really enjoy working with Western Design. They are responsive to all my needs as a builder. They are very quick to respond to my requests, and it is exceptionally nice for me to have one place to go for custom plans, a site plan, and survey services. But, they don't stop after the plans are submitted for permits, they are there to support me and my subcontractors with questions long after the sale for the plans has been made. It's nice to see a team of professionals that care about doing a good quality job, and that have the experience and know-how to make my projects successful. Let's face it, everyone along the path to a finished custom home build has to add value, and it starts with a great set of plans from a solid team of designers. Western Design does that for me. I would recommend them to anyone considering building a custom home.

Seven years ago we purchased property in a new development in Central Oregon called Brasada Ranch Resort. The design standards were unique requiring homes to reflect a central Oregon ranch life style. This was a design requirement that was not common in Central Oregon. Fortunately for us Western Design understood the concept and embraced the unique requirements. After comparing possible designers we recognized Western Design’s skills and abilities. From day one Western Design engaged us in both an educational and creative process that served as a foundation for the numerous decisions that were required to complete the final design. The result was the creation of a stunning home that reflects our taste and life style and has become a showplace for Brasada Ranch. We are now in the early stages of developing a 19-acre mini-ranch and we once again we have returned to Western Design to help us in this process. I believe that speaks volumes for the quality of work you can expect from Western Design International.
