Custom Balloon Valance with Decorative Trim

This Country French dinette area was dressed with a tailored balloon valance with a bead trim hem for the window and a French pleat drape for the sliding glass door. The rose fabric adds charm to this space. Designed by Terry Kral, Interior Designer, Allied ASID

A charming enhancement to this Family Room is the addition of the Butterfly Balloon Valance. This valance creates softness for the area, as well as adding curvilinear shape complimenting the surrounding geometric architecture. The charcoal and off-white toile print fabric brings in design, and the contrast red buttons further accentuate these valances as whole. As an essential accent to the room the valance itself becomes a main focal point.

Another view of the award-winning tailored balloon valance in this recently remodeled kitchen. The Hunter Douglas designer roller shades are hidden beneath, but available if needed. The three balloons were designed to align with the triple window. The soft tails at the sides of this valance are one option in the design of a balloon shade, and help fill the wall space at the sides of the window within this window niche. A leather reading chair sits below, as a relaxing place to enjoy the view. The Jacobean floral print of the valance gives a garden view even at night. Design by Linda H. Beneath the award-winning tailored balloon valance are Hunter Douglas Designer cordless Roller shades. Since this wall is west-facing, being able to control the heat in the afternoon is important. Here is a Master bath with Swag balloon valances, interlined for added fullness with trim at bottom. Because Interlining adds 'body', it helps the drapes hang nicely. This is especially important when using thin to medium weight fabrics in larger windows. Using lining in these situations certainly helps, but interlining adds extra quality. Another advantage is insulation. It's remarkable what a difference it makes when used in drapery at a large window.

This photo shows the newly remodeled kitchen, the award-winning valance, the Italian plate collection above the refrigerator, and the new backsplash tile in blue, yellow, and white, selected at the same time as the fabric. While I am not a kitchen designer, the client felt that her kitchen designer was not listening to her, and asked me to review the plans. I suggested the glass front cabinets above the refrigerator, and the raised panel details at the side of the ovens, and the side of the island, as improvements to the overall plan. We also selected the backsplash tile, and found the RM Coco fabric, which unified the entire space. Design by Linda H. In this photo of the entire kitchen side of the Kitchen-Dining area, the award-winning balloon valance unifies the wooded view, the client's Italian plate collection, the blue and yellow and white backsplash tile, and even some of the other accents, such as her cookware, forming the visual melody of the room, and delighting in interaction with the harmony voices in the space. Inspiration for bold traditional styled breakfast room. The window treatments on the windows and French doors have a plaid balloon valance with tassel trim that blends seamlessly with the rustic table and chairs.

The fabric and backsplash tile selections were inspired by the client's collection of Italian plates, seen here on a the wall in the dining area, and in other photos in the glass front cabinets above the refrigerator.
