Window Problem: How much, how high, etc. (south facing addition)

I spent a lot of time figuring how to make a Swedish style wall for something like an R38, but now I come to deciding about the windows for the 9' walls of the addition and I start to wonder what the point is if 40% or more of the walls are going to be glass. Currently I have the guides set at 8' for the tops of everything and 36", 24", 36" bottoms for the bedroom, living, dining areas respectively. Thinking of putting 6X6 double casements there in the living room ($1100 each; gasp). Where is the balance? The main wall is south facing and I'll easily put in the right size overhang, but sheesh. Living in Michigan. What do you folks think? Thanks!
