How do you feel about a large scale mirror or two medium ones? A circular one would provide relief to the linear angles in the room (fireplace, windows, sectional). You could also stay with the linear look and do a rectangular one. Either way, mirrors expand space and light, which is nice. Of course, you'd have to choose one that was compatible with the rest of the furnishings and style of your space.

I kind of feel that "clusters" on that wall could get busy looking - since they'd be on the same side as the kitchen cabinets with their varying heights and dimensions. Below are some mirror shapes and an idea of how the round one might look in a space. I hope you post pics when you're finished. It's a great looking space!

I have this mirror, but planned to use it in the living room to break up all the "squares and rectangles", plus I thought it would pick up the chandelier seen from the kitchen.... but since the mantle hasn't even been built yet, I could use it over that sofa instead. Here's a pic of the chandelier in the kitchen- is the mirror gonna be too much for the room?

what a pretty space. Perhaps you can install a large oil painting in bright colors...maybe an abstract design. This would add texture and depth to the space and also reflect in the mirror.

oh i got confused. i think the mirror would look great on the wall that you initially asked about (the wall that is above the sectional in between the kitchen and fireplace. But, you could also do the painting instead. I have a similar wall of cabinets and I broke up the linear nature of that with a big bright oil painting and it added personality and depth.

I love the circular mirror style that "thelakehouse" suggested. I lvoe that, or even some chrome artwork like it. Like the chrome from of an old window. Some giant interesting piece of art, or a mirror.

But if I decided to go with a collage of mirrors, is anyone feeling like the round mirror is too much with the adjacent chandeliers?

I don't think the mirror is too much at all. I think it's an excellent tie in with the chandeliers. Anything too plain would look out of place. Anything with too much "bling" would compete. I think it's a great balance.

Whatever you do, it needs to be bigger than what you would normally do. In my humble opinion, I think one large piece of art in a room is very striking.

I'm afraid those in the link I viewed feel alittle contemporary and might distract from the lake view from the window opposite of this wall.... Lakehouse, that mirror is fabulous! I don't think it's the right piece for the living room above the fire place, even though it works stylistically with the chandelier. It looks like it would be too high. What would it reflect that high on the wall? You've got such a soft feeling in that room - I would build on that and go with an oil painting in the living room.

i would go with pics and maybe some small mirrors thrown in,. do like a very big over scale photo collage. black and white photos of all your favorite friends kids pets places what ever you love. but add some small like 5x8 mirrors in the collage to break it up. then some great candle wall sconces on either side. ps i love both the round mirror and chandlier.i would still use them over the firplace above the mantel piece that you are doing.

Will probably keep the mirror for the fireplace - I'll know for sure when the tile and mantle surround is put into place! Just feels right for that room
