The back bedroom of our house leads out to the patio and lawn, and is half covered in knotty pine wainscoting. We want to leave the wood partly because we are sick of painting after painting the whole dang house including ceilings, and partly because we don't think it's inherently ugly, it just was with the previous color. We have tried white, light gray, and a darker brown toned gray, and nothing looks right. This will be a spare bedroom and office eventually, but probably more of a den for the next year or two.
