Yes, natural cedar, left unsealed, will weather to that grey color you so often see in seaside resort towns.

Yes eventually it will become shades of silvery/gray.

The Western Red Cedar shingles used on this project will darken over time and will need to be treated with a semi transparent or solid body stain. The clients in this case eventually chose to use a red solid body stain on the shingles and it looks great.

I hope to rephotograph this home this coming summer with the red stain and will post those images on my Houzz site when I get them.
