I originally went with a more elegant look for foyer to match the chandelier and our black banister, but the rest of my house has ended up with a more casual/natural feel. I used to have a black table with a mirror over it in this odd little nook, but am looking for something new to do to this area. We are going to replace the baseboards, and as much as I'd love to open up this space, removing that wall would mean fixing the wood floors which is not in the budget (and we don't know what is in that bulk head). Should we paint it a contrasting color? I don't want to make it a coat rack - trying to keep the front door uncluttered. I would love any of your suggestions for colors, lighting, furniture pieces, things for the wall, etc. Thank you!
