What green paint colors did you use?

    The under color was a light warm brown, just a little darker than what's on the fireplace surround. The first glaze (transparent color, eggshell finish) was a warm olive green. The second one was a cooler green, with more blue in it. That's what makes it interesting, like a watercolor painting: the variations between warm and cool greens.

    My pleasure. I haven't used sea sponges for many years, because they leaves characteristic marks. I apply the glaze with a brush to a large grout sponge, then wipe it onto the wall. Take care of your shoulder joint if you do a lot of this.
