Ultimately it will depend on the exact look and application you have. One of our applications is to have our flush jamb used with a primed door leaf using the concealed hinges and magnetic mortise box. The door is installed flush with the drywall, then the paneling is applied to the wall and the door to create the flush "hidden" look all the way across the entire wall. The concealed hinge is important, not only for the flush look, but also making sure you can adjust the door perfectly, and accommodate the thickness of adding paneling on top of the door leaf.
