We are updating our kitchen counters and although I love Carrara marble, I know I wouldn't be able to relax if we had it installed. It's just not durable enough for me. That being said, I am having a heck of a time picking something else. I love light colors and "beachy" style. I think we have narrowed it down to either Thunder white (the one with veins) or Alaska white (more spotted) granite. Which do you like better for our space? Also, I am not sure what to do with the space above my sink. Should we do a backsplash all the way up and add a few shelves? If so, any suggestions as to which backsplash are greatly appreciated! Such a weird space. Here's a picture of our floor throughout the kitchen and dining room and our accent wall which is on the adjacent dining room wall. Thanks for your input!
