How about large planters in front of each pillar and a lot of great larger scaled furniture this set from costco is awesome and these planters are a great scale.

Lighting can do a lot for decks, it would be helpful to get a picture of it at night. Patricia Colwell is right as well, plants and the way the furniture is arranged can make a big difference. The first thing I suggest is arranging the furniture differently and seeing if you like the deck more. You could also look at getting an outdoor rug or staining the deck darker.

Wood or wicker furniture looks good on a wood deck. Metal furniture looks good on a flagstone terrace. Pull the furniture arrangement out from the house wall a bit. Larger deck needs larger furniture.
