I am down to subfloor in L-shaped kitchen/tv den with small couch and chair.(Kitchen area is long, while tv area is 10x10feet). Subfloor runs vertically. The rest of my house has 2" by 5/16" thick oak wood floors running horizontally. I am considering putting in herringbone wood floors and am wondering if 2 inch planks would look too busy in that pattern. Also considering doing 3 inch wide or wider but concerned might be too much of a transition. There are no doors separating dining room and kitchen/tv area and as I said, the 2 inch oak floors run horizontally in dining room and rest of house.
